I think the non-comp ones will need clearanced.
The comp versions will probably fit. They also have a couple holes per valve cover for PCV valves, breathers, oil fill, etc. |
Just got an email from Dennis, he said my covers shipped out today (pretty fast).
He said I might need to grind a little. I will post an update when the engine gets here. :o |
At least you know ahead of time that there may be an issue , unlike me who spent a saterday installing the dove set up , lashing valves , and when you think your almost done ...

Dennis sent me the tracking info today. All is well...so far.

Just a quick update. The Blue Thunder valve covers from DSC arrived today as promised.
I have not been able to try them on the engine yet. The quality is impressive. |
I started grinding tonight. Oh...on the valve covers I mean. :3DSMILE:
Got the first one to fit, working on the second one. |
Nice! I thought you would have to do that. Pix please when they're "on". I may go to those for a change of pace in the future.

Brent,
Is it the end stands on the Erson's that won't fit or something else? I have the same Ford Racing covers but have HS roller rockers with Precision end stands. Will they fit under those covers without grinding? I had the stock Ford aluminum covers from 428's that I had polished and there was no way those would fit the new heads and valve gear. They look nice but don't work with the new stuff. Paul |
Comp ones fit on pretty much everything. Factory cast 428 covers will sometimes tag on the end stands - just barely - double gaskets provide enough clearance. Factory tin covers seen to tag on the filler baffles - but clear elsewhere.

I got the extra thick cork gaskets from DSC. They are sweet! I finished up the second valve cover and everything is honky dory.
Pics when I get a chance. Even though it was extra work, I am very happy with the Blue Thunder valve covers. Question: I am going to run the oil overflow tank as per original style. The Edelbrock intake has a casting provision for the hose plate but it is not drilled. Is there a way to add the hole without pulling the intake. I would hate to pull everything apart after Keith did such a nice job. |

Here are some pics. Note the organic, unmachined nature of the grinding. This look was very difficult to replicate using the laser cutting machine.
