Need help to identify FE Block ID !!
Hi all,
a friend of mine here in Germany bought Kirkham #238.
To get the car on the road we have to fulfill German TÜV approval. For the necessary paperwork we need to know what kind of engine it has. What we need is a mid 60s ID. What we found on the block is CSX1 10.
Is there any chance to identify this block as a 60s block?? I know its new.... maybe it is the same as with the genesis and pond block with a "period correct" engine code...
I could not find anything about this number, who can help out??
I sent parallel to this post a mail to Keith Craft asking the same things.
Thanks,
Westcott

The seller is a member here, if anyone would know, he would. I'll clue him in to this thread and hopefully he can assist you and your friend.

If it's Keith motor and it's an aluminum block as said in the description then it's probably a Shelby block which is a brand new "re-pop" block. Definately not a "60s" block..

CSX number on alum 427 should pin it down as a modern Carroll Shelby Enterprises block

Does the shebly block not have a C5ME casting number on it like the Genesis does?

Hey Westcott
Just curious if everything worked out with 238. I know about the accident during registration. Has every thing been set straight?

Wow!
I know the previous owner well and in fact, was talking to him today about the car. Wish I had seen the thread when it was originally posted!
The block is Shelby, though that's probably old news by now. Last I heard, the German government was supposed to paying for the repair. Let your friend know if he needs any other info to let me know and I'll see what I can do.
