Default My test stand

Thought I'd post some pictures of my test stand. Thanks to those members without whose help I wouldn't have made it this far (you know who you are). I just have to figure out how to get the b***h out of my basement.

As long as nothing terribly embarrassing happens, I'll post some video when I do fire it up.

phil

Very nice. I had an acquaintence who put an elevator in his basement for getting machinery in and out.....told his wife he was building it for moving wood for the fireplace.....chuckle.

Better not run it in the basement....I used to do that with model airplane engines and it makes you very unpopular.....

Out of curioiusity, what are you going to do with it? Just fuel and timing adjustments at idle? Reason I ask, is I never feel comfortable revving an engine over about 2000 rpm....2500 rpm tops, when it is unloaded. I guess people do it all the time....I just never liked doing it.

Argess,

I agree with you about not over revving it unloaded. I built the stand for a couple of reasons. The first is that I'm not ready to spend the money for a car yet, and wanted something to keep me entertained. Also, since I built the motor myself, I'm hoping to find and address any major leaks prior to it going into a car. I would imagine that putting a load on the motor is more likely to expose leaks, but a few heating/cooling cycles couldn't hurt either.
