Webers On An FE
I am seriously considering putting Webers on my FE.
I talked with the folks at Inglese yesterday (after about six calls and an hour on hold)--I hope their products are better than their customer service. - Inglese suggests that their 48mm IDA systems have pre-tuned jetting, pre-synchronized linkage, and blueprinted Weber carbs.
- The person to which I talked indicated that their Weber carbs are from Spain--apparently the same source of Weber carb that I can get elsewhere for substantially less money.
- Their complete 48mm IDA setup for an FE is $5k--which is substantally more than what I can get the complete setup for from other sources.
I wanted to see if anybody has ever purchased Webers through Inglese, and if so, what their experience was (and if their systems warrant a ~$1500 premium). Inglese suggests they have years and years of experience with Webers, and with that a "database" of specifications for different types of setups--presumably allowing them to provide a system that is closer to being tuned for your engine when you receive the system.
I have two other questions, as well. - Any perspective on whether or not 48mm IDA Webers are too small for a 511 ci FE?
- Has anybody actually put the Berg 58 mm IDAs on an FE? If so, what has been your/their experience?
- Any perceptions or experiences with the Berg carbs are appreciated. I am interested in hearing about the quality of these carbs as well as the increased flow and performance from these larger carbs on a big FE (the Berg carbs are quite expensive).
Thanks,
Stentor
