You can see here on my motor mount that I use the "old style" pre-1965 two bolt type. You can see the two bolts that go to the block and the big one bolt that goes to the frame piece. If you just loosen these up, without taking them out, you'll get a good inch, maybe a bit more. To go much above that though you're going to have to remove them.
