Hello,
A couple of years ago, I was able to view and read the discussion about how to modify cobra door hinges by 52chevyred. There is a link to this, posted by Beastly. But now, when I select this link, a message appears stating that I do not have permission to access this link. Does anyone understand this issue and know how to fix the problem? I tried searching thru 52chevyred's posted photos, but did not locate anything about the door hinge mod. Appreciate any guidance given. Thank You-Harry

Harry Truppner: I will have to see if I may have deleted them. I had got them from Taylor-Played, who came up with the idea. If I did delete them, it may have been in part to how much "advantage" that it may have had or not. I will post when I look to see if I deleted them.

Harry Truppner: I just looked: I did delete them. You may gain 2" over the stock hinge, but you do have to cut more of the body, too. I will have to try and find the pics again and post a few, so you can decide.

Once my doors were mounted was really disappointed how they did not open far enough. Looked at every possible solution even redoing the hinges. Final solution was to cut enough of the door jam giving the hinge a place to open into. Also moved the hinge as far toward inside of cockpit and still have knee room. In the end it looks incredible.

Thank You All for responding. I've had this kit for 24 years (66 CMC Roadster). I have been building it a little bit here and a little bit there over the years. The interior is next to be installed. After that comes the test runs and working the bugs/issues out. I'll post the issues as they come, for any guidance that you might offer. I think that I will remove the doors for the upcoming interior work. The doors are just in the way with the stock hinge restrictions. Harry

OK, all, I FINALLY found the hinge photos and have re-posted them in an album, under my profile. I won't delete them again. I just posted the "basic" pictures today and will add more soon.

This mod is not to be taken "lightly". It's not that complicated, but you may have to cut more fiberglass than you are willing to do. I have 4 years on my doors with these hinges and have had no problems.

Our group member Taylor-Played is the originator of this mod and I copied what he did. We both would say, we make no guarntee of anything pictured and any attempt you make to duplicate, is at your own risk. It worked fine for us, but, we don't know anyone's abilities. These pictures are posted as a "guide", for your consideration.
