Agree Don, in the end these CMC cars can be very nice little hot rods. Mine is close to 24 yrs old still looks great. Very proud to have it sitting in my shop and driving it around to shows and cruise-ins.

I am really digging the build. I would agree- run fuel line inside frame. I had a "event" where i lost u joint and a wild drive shaft cut the the fuel line. My line is now inside of frame in that area.

I ran mine outside the frame away from the driveshaft also covered it to protect it from the heat of the under car exhaust.

Hello,
On my CMC I ran the fuel lines along the inside of the frame next to the drive shaft. Fearing a possible issue of a broken drive shaft, I welded angle iron along the critical area length to make a tunnel to protect the lines. Harry

Thanks for the advice on the fuel line. I attached it to the inside of the frame, alongside the transmission and driveshaft. I may change this down the road. I have a ways to go before that fuel line will be used.

Has anyone used gauges other than what came with the SB kit? I located the gauges that came with my dads kit. He had them wrapped up in newspaper and in a box. I noticed the small gauges appear to have a slight haze on the lense. The speedo and tach appear to be fine. Not sure if this is normal?

Also, I am not able to locate the turn signal lights that would appear on the dash. Is this an item that would have come with the kit? Other than the speedo, tach, volt, oil, water, fuel.. any other lighted items would have come with the kit?

One last question..
Should the engine be totally centered within the frame rails? Common sense would tell me yes. Just wanted to make sure. My engine is still sitting slightly offset towards passenger side by .75 inch

I found that Stewart-Warner makes a matched set, for Cobras. Complete with reverse speedo. That's what I installed in my CMC. I really didn't like the look of the gauges that came with my kit and had Stewart-Warners in another car previously.

I do not remember what the gauges were that came with my kit only that I installed Stewart Warner gauges. The indicator lights for turn signals and high beam were included.

Hello ziggy75,
Gauge story. Gauges were not included with my CMC kit. J.C. Whitney had individual gauges. I ordered all individually to make up a set. Six total. When they came, there were four gauges, a small socket set and a fuel injector. With all the descriptions necessary on the order form, they only keyed on the part number to pull the parts from the warehouse. The person pulling parts misread the numbers and there you go. Calling customer service, I was told to return the wrong parts and they would send the other two gauges if I paid more money. Seems that the catalog that I ordered from was expired and the discount from that catalog was no longer offered. Take it or leave it was their stance. Hopefully you will not fall victim to incompetence.
