They are pretty cars, but if history is any indication then the price it sells for with be less than what is in it. But, I don't think any of us are under illusions that we'll make money with these things.

Not to debate this car or prices, but the market has changed quite a bit in the last five years or so. There are many new manufactuer's of GT40s on the market, and no less than three other monocoque designs out and available right now. One of those mono cars is a more exact of a replica than the ERA as it uses a steel roof and many unique special made reproduction parts - if the "exactness" is what you are after - as well as license to be called a GT40 and possible vintage racing creditials. This car can be on the road and running for around $100k.

The other two mono designs are extemely close replicas and sport their own chassis designs with improvements and features geared toward different factions of enthusiasts. One is an aluminum monocoque and the other is a stainless steel monocoque and these can be had and on the road for far less than $100k. And of course there are still many nice space frame cars to be had as well but since the ERA is a monocoque car I didn't throw those in here.

Interesting times these are. Folks have a huge array of GT40s to choose from and the prices are considerably less now than ever before. A great time to be shopping for one!

Ron
