GT40's in RHD

With the long waiting list for a GT40 locally, I thought that I would look further afield and see what is available to import into Australia in the RHD configuration.

With the relaxing of registration allowing GT40's to be registered as a Club permitted vehicle, importing into Australia is a viable option.

Additionally our dollar is quite strong at the moment...

Anyone know who is manufacturing in both RHD and LHD format.

I will follow up to see who their agent is locally - if one - or make enquiries direct with the manufacturer in the States.

Thanks for any leads or ideas.

Bernie, i think when Dean Lampe was deciding about his 40, he was going back and forth regarding rh/lh drive. might look for Dean. I believe he even posted a thread on it. A few months back, i think. :)

Look for a small package in the mail, the next few days. :)

Thanks for that. After driving the GT40 across the USA and back I've got the bug.

The local GT40 market is now pretty well limited to one, so I thought that I would have a look there in the States.

I'll possibly get over prior to the 'Run N Gun' so will let you know what the plan is. I would like to get down to Texas and catch up with you and Jay and the gang again prior to the Midstates event.

By the way, I have the wedding disc from Nikki's wedding and will send in the next day or so.

Cheers

Bernie, Did you see the RF GT40 kit on aussie ebay? It was very comprehensive and wouldn't need a lot to complete it.

Cheers

Hey Bernie,
You might want to wait and see what I'm doing before you buy.
I'll give you a call later.

Hersh:)

You can have one built by RCR here in Michigan.

xracerbob 04-02-2007 12:58 PM

ERA can do them in RHD.

I would imagine the wait is extensive...

Sorry just re read you 'Post' and yes will keep an eye on the mail.

Aussie Mike

Mike,

Yes saw the link and checked the car out on site. See it wasn't sold. Mmmm yes possibly worth following up. It's basically a roller with the addition of the radiator, gearbox and engine parts.

Guess the original roller price was $40k - so do the few extras add up. Again may follow up.

Are you back in Aussie land..

I was going to head over to the London, Ohio event again, but renovations and property settlements keep me here. So just the Run N Gun possibly extended into a Texas visit. I see a few beers on the horizon with Jay and the gang..:3DSMILE:

%/....just need to stay here and watch where Anne puts the money after the settlements..

Talk soon

Bernie, I bought an RCR and it has been a pleasure to buy and build. Fran hall is the owner of the company and he is set up to do left or right hand. His car is an aluminum mono with all the extra's. Just let me know if i can help.

Gt40

Hi Bernie.
Just visited SPF in LA yesterday. They make GT40s in LHD and RHD (for the purists). They have a very nice new (well, I sat in it!) red one in RHD for sale:MECOOL:

Hey Bernie,
What are the new rules? How does it work? Is it Australia wide?

The Cobra and the GT40 are both fantastic looking cars.

Did you meet Lance there? I think he is the dealer there.

You will need to check your States permit systems.

Victoria has the CH plate for Classic Historical, and the SR plate for Special rego. There is also the club permits system.

Hersh,

Building GT40 again..what is that other builder worried about you...
