Default SPF GT 40 - Ground clearance issues

As I edge ever closer to pulling the trigger on this, I'm concerned about ground clearance and maximum ramp angles. While crawling around a couple of examples in the Monterey infield, I noticed that the flange on the bellhousing was nearly touching the grass on which the car was parked. It also had some noticeable scrapes.

Any insight from current SPF GT40 owners as to their experience with speed bumps, dips and other road inconveniences much appreciated.

My bell is almost even with the chassis. as far as speed bumps, no problem. steep ramps can be a problem

The front sway bar and rear supension are both below the rim, technically illegal in CA. Departure angle in the front is a problem as noted above.

Well, howdy neighbor. How's your SPC liking the rough roads of Westchester? Got any photos?

BR Pkwy would be a fun ride, albeit short. Ever blast up the northern parts of the Taconic? I used to have a ball doing that in my M3 when I was advising Hemmings Motor News and traveling to Bennington with some frequency. Got to watch out for the fuzz near Chatham, though.

Welcome to the world of driving a race-bred car on city streets. Comes with the territory and the SPF GT is so dead nuts accurate (dimensionally) to the original that you're going to have to deal with those pains if you want to own it. Good luck with your decision...any GT40 in a stable is a good choice from my view (if you can fit).

Fit's not a problem -- the ones I've tried on might as well have been custom made for my particular dimensions. Getting it up my driveway and over the speed bumps to the golf course without leaving the bellhousing behind is the concern.

Hopefully by spring I'll have sorted this out, finished throwing $$ at a kitchen renovation & finally get off the fence.

Hey rjbh,

Haven't taken it that far north on the Taconic. One of my faves is Rte. 22 around the Kensico reservoir.

The roads are so bad around here I gotta get a new mouth guard...the DDS loves it though...lol...

I just had to adjust a SPF GT-40 to get more ground clearence. The chassis is adjustable in ride height. Plenty of clearence now.
