Default Hurricane build - 2015 IRS w/pin drive

Sharing some of the good things coming out of Hurricane Motorsports

GenII Hurricane with S550 Mustang IRS, 15" Pin drive wheels with Wilwood brakes and eBrake system.

468 Shelby aluminum FE with upgraded TKO600 and EightStack individual runner injection system using PE3 ECU

Kind of like the one I have now, just a few more bells and whistles and an even more period correct version planned.

That's a good looking chassis and suspension.

Looks great Paul, but one of us is running our rear shocks upside down

I’m happy to see the longer brake handle being used. I switched mine years ago and showed the original owners the idea along with the bracket. Glad it’s made it into production!

Matt & Larry

Tried to mount the shocks upside down on my GenI and it can't be done. Was able to do it on this version. Minor decrease in unsprung wheel weight.(every little bit helps)

The longer handle isn't in production (yet). It's a mod that I did

Looks great, Paul! I would love to eventually upgrade to IRS and Tremec magnum 6 speed. Maybe after a few years when I pull the body to paint.

I believe any minor gains you get from reducing unsprung weight will be more that offset by the absolute PITA it will be to reach the adjustment knobs and also adjust those spring collars once you have bodywork and a large rear tire in your way. Looks easy now.

Oh, I thought they had switched to the longer handle a while ago! I remember sending photos to the Lees Summit guys when I put mine in. I think it looks so much better and you have more leverage to set the brake as well.
Thanks for the info!

Never too late Bob! Could you make a new bracket for the long handle that bolts on the existing bracket? Then switch handles.

It's been a minute, finish the build yet? If so do you have more pics along the way? I am specifically curious about the fiberglass pans vs riveted sheet metal other brands use.

And some pics on the sheetmetal tunnel. It's not an 'easy on / easy off' type setup but if I ever need to pull the drivetrain, I now have access.

I am working on adding more details to my build site.

Paul,

Sorry, but that is not acceptable, you need to tear the car down to the last time you posted and then start posting pictures from that point forward You denied us the ability to enjoy the build and annoy the heck out of you.

The car looks great, glad that you are enjoying it.

Jim
