Default Roush 427 IR ignition problems

My name is Mark and I own SPF 2953 with a MotoTron ECU and Roush 427 IR. I was cruising at about 55mph and the car backfired and quit. Bought in the shop. I had intermittent spark and replaced the coil and the ECU itself and neither helped. My mechanic the removed the msd distributor and sent it to them to go through it. Received it back and now there is no spark at all. We are thinking it is the distributor. But now there are questions regarding the wiring harness that we can't get answers for (contacted Roush numerous times). On the new distributor the wiring harness to the engine is a 3 pin which matches the bottom side of the new distributor but there are only 2 wires coming it of the top of distributor (black/orange and black/purple) but the plug going to the car side has 3 pins (black, red and clear). One wire to the car side needs to be omitted. Any ideas, info or contacts would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance,
Mark Kady

1) go to msd website and print out wiring details for your distributor
2) dont waste time with Roush as they rarely respond
3) find new mechanic

As a footnote, check the battery to chassis ground. Mine is located in the trunk on the driver's side. I experienced a similar engine failure and it turned out to be a bad ground. I repaired the ground (cable and lug) and the engine fired right up. That was 2000 miles ago and haven't had any further issues.
