Those look look like Ford plugs.
This connector identification list may help.

Your going to need both male and female plugs so brand does not matter, just how many circuits (pins) are needed.
Or a connector set from Ron Francis

The big question is, Why did that happen?

1795 12-12-2017 07:29 PM

Bob is right. That should not have happened. You need to figure out why it did or else there is a risk for it happening again.

It looks like a resistance problem. The connectors become corroded and resistance causes the heat then it just snowballs from there. Coat your connectors before connecting them to prevent this. JD

Dell City sell GM style connectors used by most of the wiring harness manufactures.

But like Bob said "why"?

I think you're correct Jaydee. Either corroded, pushed back pin(not seated and locked) or loose connector.

The burn is in the connector.

I think the reason was the car sat for a long time and was used sparingly. the car was built in 1997 and when I bought it (May) it had only 2305 miles; lack of use and where it was stored is more than likely the cause.
Thanks for the help

FWIW, wiring has to be meticulous to last, can't have wires wire tied to metal objects.
like i see on the steering column tube in your pic, the insulation will rub thru and short melt connectors and even in worst cases start a fire.
get them into a loom, use loom fasteners or what ever you can to keep wires from moving at all, put shrink wrap on the wire up and over the wire ends...etc......
