:p

Would have been really cool if there were new MAGNESIUM wheels in those tires.

Seriously cool drill of running on the RR track. Great for those small muscles that help with balance.

I hate to be the "half empty" kinda guy, but I see sprained ankle, MCL or ACL. G-d forbid. :(

Maybe one day with the mag wheels.

Yes, we do balance drills all the time. Next week I'll post some more of how we train for balance.

Let's just say I'm VERY aware of balance drills and let's also say that there are far safer and better ways to achieve the same goal(s). :)

But every one is different and that's OK. ;) Best of luck with the workouts.

Like you say, it isn't for everyone and that's OK. We just like to have fun and work out at the same time. I love to work out with our guys and try new things. They are fantastic guys.

Hey Guys!

Kirkham Workout of the Day...do a marathon...

On snow shoes

(Well, we kept the snow shoes on for 10 miles of the 26.2! After that we ditched them and ran in our running shoes on the snow.) My brother talked me into doing it yesterday. I'm glad he did. The furthest I had ever run in my life was 5 miles...and I did that on Thursday

When we started this morning it was 14 degrees outside. This marathon had almost 5000 feet of vertical climb (and 5000 decent). You are slipping and sliding all over the place. It was a ton of fun. I'm sure I'll be sore tomorrow :D

Yes, what we do isn't for everyone. That doesn't matter. It isn't so important what you do...it is only important that you DO something. Do what motivates you and makes you happy. We just love to try new things out.

Life is great. The guys who organized the marathon were top notch. It was great to be around them all day. They worked hard at all the aid stations to keep everyone hydrated and happy. Great organization.

I always wanted to do a marathon. It feels great to cross another one off my bucket list :)

My brother talked me into doing this snow shoe marathon with him. The furthest I had ever run in my life was 5 miles...two days before the race. It was something like 14 degrees outside. My brother wanted to try out some new fabric "Gator Skins" www.gator-skins.com for the adventure and he handed them to me 10 minutes before the start.

We started out the race with the Gator-skins and a T-shirt on top. We quickly pulled that off as we were over-heating and did the entire race with the Gator-skins and nothing else. They are made of a new, high-tech polyester fabric where the weave opens at 80 degrees to let the heat out. It also closes if it gets too cold to keep the heat in. When you first put them on you could feel the breeze come right through. In a few minutes they blocked most of the wind.

They wicked the sweat away quickly and never "hung" or felt clammy. They were awesome. We ran through bushes, brambles and up the side of a mountain and never had them snag or tear. Finally, thank heavens, they didn't chaff.

You can see here at the end of the race we had thrown the snow shoes overboard. Notice our shoes are a solid block of ice.

While still recovering from the snow shoe marathon we decided to have a shop climb on the rope today during lunch.

We invited everyone to join in the rope climb today. Someone said they couldn't climb the rope because they were out of shape. When Jeremy persisted, he responded, "You try to climb the rope with 40 extra pounds!"

So...we did :) We are wearing 40 pound weight vests here. Jeremy ran up the rope so quick I couldn't get a photo. But we got a few others.

You should rent the movie Pumping iron with arnold schwarzenegger if you havent seen it, You will want to start bench pressing anything in sight. Its from the 60's when lifting weight was all about raw meat and climbing ropes, your on your way.
