Default Pics: Kirkham twin-Paxton Super Snake cammer

I just found these pics of a Kirkham twin-Paxton supercharged 427 SOHC cammer "Super Snake" on the KMS Facebook page, and thought I'd share them.

Wow!!

Note, oil filler cap for dry sump lubrication system.

This was the car/engine that I saw in the works when I was at Kirkham last year.

I don't know exactly what's going on under the hood manifold wise (I did see the the Paxton bracketry they developed for the SOHC) but I do know a couple things:

Super Snakes (the actual Paxton layout) never seems to be the same. Sometimes the pair sit higher, lower, closer together, further away from the block, etc.

...and...

The clearance you need on top of the manifold depends on if you went with the Edelbrock FX-66 or Dove dual inline (which doesn't sit 'high'). The issue with the carb hats is that they flare out.

My build has a twin Paxton but it's not necessarily (at all, really) a Super Snake replica. I didn't intend to go there. I'm keeping my options open for the hood. I know a lot of folks don't like it but I wouldn't kick it out of my garage.

I think they did an awesome job and I want to meet that crazy owner.

Nice! There was a cream colored Kirkham on eBay a few years ago with two supercharges. I remember because the Paxton supercharges required automatic transmission fluid.

The car had a soft top and a blue interior. It has gotta be out there!

You are correct rpatton3.

And it was shoehorned in a stock hood.

Rodney-I might seriously consider Rick's solution of bilge fans to evacuate under hood heat. If it's an issue you find-it's a good solution.
BTW-please keep posting progress and installation.

I don't mind the super snake scoop, because of what's lurking under the hood ! (should be anyway) lol

Will do. It's being done now and I just emailed Tom for an update.
I have a sneaking suspicion that it'll be a work in progress for quite some time but that's half the fun, ain't it? It is, it is!!
The dyno numbers are in my album, btw. This way I'll keep track of my visitors.

FUNFER2 - pics of the engine are in my album. Scoop is yet to be seen.

I think we hijacked this thread.

New owner, SHOW YOURSELF! The Kirkhams did a great job.

Although I don't think it's the prettiest hood in the world, I automatically have to do a double take on any that I might see just because any Cobra guy is going to know instantly what it should mean. And it commands instant respect from anyone in the know.

Scuzzi - Non mi piace.
While I'm a fan and totally of the skill required, I can say it is to my taste.

Default Blue 'glass Super Snake at SAAC-37

There was a guy at SAAC-37 who had a fiberglass Super Snake Cobra replica, painted to match CSX3015. I didn't have the chance to speak with the owner. Does anyone know which kit this was built from? Unique Motorcars? Other?

UPDATE: Yep, it turns out that this particular car is from Unique Motorcars. The powertrain consists of a Ford 390 bored out to 403cid and equipped with two Paxton SN2000 superchargers hidden within original SN60 housings and feeding two Holley 600cfm double pumpers. Transmission is a four-speed toploader (not a 3AT as per CSX3015). Power output is a verified 800 hp. The hood scoop is homemade. The car was featured in the Oct 2010 issue of Kit Car Builder magazine. -- Thanks, Rodney!

I think it looks awesome !
I hope someone here knows the owner, as I would like to chat with him.

Does it create a lot of uncontrollable heat in street driving ?

(rodneym- don't want to take over his thread either. I clicked on your camera icon, but it did not have any pics)
