how big is my fuel tank?

Yeah...i built a wing on his house with all of the Weber stuff he's done for me. Super nice guy and exceptionally knowledgeable about those carbs. Great parts supplier as well. s

I am embarrassed to say I do not, Steve. I would love to make the acquaintance.

BTW the tanks are not perfect cubes but the additional work to reduce them to a simple cube is relatively straightforward.

Mine is #142 with the 42 gallon tank. The other tank available was the 30 gallon
tank. Should be able to get close to one of those two capacities with all that calculating!

Too small?

The tank capacity will be less than a dimensional reduction if the tank is baffled or is a foam race tank.

I have the "42"gal "comp" tank with the "saddle bag'' at the outboard ends that fit up into the rear portion of the rear fenders. I was talking to David Kirkham about a month ago, and he mentioned they re-labeled the 42 gal to 38? gal, for some reason I don't remember.

If you have the "saddle bags", then you have the "40" gal tank.
But it will be interesting to see what you come up with using math.
(I just realized the other day, that never in my 76 years have I ever used Algebra or any more complex math !)

Same here (65 years). Degree in math and physics. Never used calculus or quantum mechanics. Did use statistics alot. Everything else is basic math.

By the numbers, it was just sl > 40 gallons....that's a big tank, not sure they even offer that anymore. (Their website says the upgrade to 30 gallons is $2255!).

Yeah calculus and quantum mechanics aren't particularly useful in my day-to-day living, but...our most recently adopted cat has been named Schrödinger after the famous Austrian physicist's cat "thought" experiment. I do remember hearing about him and the Heisenberg uncertainty principle, tho' I was never certain i really understood. Gotta "B" in that class and was ecstatic. In case you just can't stand it and are bored...

We had to read Mr. Tompkins in Wonderland. I had a copy of Mr Tompkins in Paperback (combines Mr. Tompkins in Wonderland, Mr Tompkins Explores the Atom in one volume) but I can't find it and I think my wife donated it to goodwill.

There was a calculus problem that I remember that goes like this: You're driving to a destination, and your speed is such that you are always one hour away. That is, at 100 miles away you are driving 100 mph, at 60 miles, 60mph, 30 miles @ 30mph. How long does it take to get there?

Heisenberg applied to the stuff I did on serial interfaces. As the speeds got higher, instrumentation attached to the system definitely affected the way it operated. The last scope I bought that didn't screw things up cost nearly 750K.

I assume that in the above problem, you never really get there, b/c as long as you're moving, you are, by the rules, one hour away. See what i mean by my luckin' out with a "B" in Physics 103? s
