How about the obvious: a Daytona coupe? You have most of the parts already with the roadsters.

Others: Aston DBR1 or 2, Scarab, Porsche 904/6, all aluminum Jeepster that won't rust.

Fred's right, an aly 550 spyder (hill-climber) would be ideal with a modern Porche engine set and tranny. (The original DOHC was a monster to maintain/OH).

Think of it a little like the Lola T212 sort of layout.

The biggest thing that I find lacking is the limitation of aftermarket up grades to the cars. It would be great if the manufacturers would offer after market or an options package to include items that can be used to upgrade the car. Having limitations on the original purchase is one issue but when additional disposable income becomes available, those of us that like to tinker would like to add to the vehicle after it is complete. For example I took a 1977 911s (porsche) and originally started restoring it. The car lacked performance with the 2.7 liter engine and it probably wasn't the best year to start with the base car. I elected to put a 3.8 liter normally aspirated motor in that puts out double the horse power. Of course I needed brakes to stop the car so I put brembo (SP) brakes on it that required larger wheels, which required flares, which seemed obvious to do suspension mods, etc., I did not like the modifications I did originally so I changed it out to a 3.8RS body type. Anyhow you probably get my drift on this.

yje jag that my buddy has is a riveted aluminum body with the correct tube type chassis.

the first porsche 356's were constructed using aluminum (Gmund coupes). of which johnny von newman made the first "speedster" style body from when he removed the roof. this is the car that brought about porsche building a "speedster" model.

If you are looking for a different model, why not a daytona coupe, a flip top or csx3002 replica? Selling new cobra variations should involve little marketing on your part.

As for Daytona Coupes, I would love to make one some day. Who knows. No plans right now.

Right now we are focused on the Rush. We want to get it up and running and out to the mags.

I would love to do a speedster. I will have to get a hold of CSX700? to get one to look at.

Just sand and paint. Most guys hit the aluminum with 120 and then primer. Have your painter call me for detailed explanation. We do have a 289 Hybrid Lemans car in stock with a hard top right now. Other than that, there isn't much left--all sold out.

I agree with those who say that a Kirkham won't be a Kirkham any more if Kirkham succumbs to a focus on profit, rather than exclusivity. You have made the ultimate name for yourself--why destroy it?!--this is something you cannot buy. You must make a change in SN if you pursue this pollution of your fine product name. :eek:

That said, this is how I look at MY businesses with products that do not possess noteriety, or just plain cannot achieve noteriety by nature of the product itself: they are numbers. Only numbers--there is no other real basis for my business decisions. It does not matter whether they are popsicles or staplers--the goal is to sell as many as cheaply as possible--to make decisions not on my preferred flavor or my favorite stapler color, but based on numbers, once I have a quality product. This is wisdom--and its the only way to succeed in business these days. You can take a stab at maximizing profits with other items--but NOT with your Cobra. *B&B and Unique are manufacturing '34 ford roadsters and electric vehicles as well as their Cobra replicas. They may do it to survive--because they do not own the creme of the crop Cobra replica company.

You may not need to do it to survive, but you DO need to do it to retain the Kirkham name. You won't be able to buy it back--once it's gone, it's gone. Money can't buy happiness--OR reputation.

Another thought: Make aliminum bodies for people like me with Contemporary, UM, ERA, and SPF. I know there are a host of issues however with the thousands of cars out there it may be a focus that can bring ROI into prospective?

I have considered and aluminum skin for may car but without the underpinnings it would be a problem. If there was a way to attach the body to the tub or an aluminum tub within the body to bolt to frame you would have another solid marketplace to share your creations.

Imagine a KMS bodied Contemporary or SPF. Thousands of frames in existance already. I am sure their would not be a shortage of customers.

I would offer my car for a prototype! Thoughts.......An aluminum Contemporary would spice up the mix a bit. Although at that point it would be a KMS-Contemporary.
