Seems it should bring more. When did Kirkham switch to the billet suspension. This is a 2001 and still has the original design.

No, the current bid is $55,100.00 The sale price will not be determined until May 17th.

I would expect a lot higher bidding next week.

From his write-up:
"Please do not ask me what the reserve is, but be assured it is reasonable."

Jamo 05-11-2008 12:18 AM

Damn it Whatsa, you're not supposed to actually read stuff before you post about it.

mrmustang 05-11-2008 07:18 AM

HHHHm, better go check my lottery tickets from Saturday night

ng8264723 05-11-2008 12:32 PM

Jamo and Whatsa Cobra,
If it is a reserve auction it will say reserve not met under the current bid. Once the reserve in met it will say reserve met. He listed it incorrectly.

Correct, it has been listed as a no reserve auction. Somebody screwed up and for once it ain't me.

What'saCobra? 05-11-2008 02:19 PM

We all know how eBay works.
We are learning how this seller works.

Some folks read headlines...others read the full story.

The reserve has already been met......I asked Ebay live chat.

big-boss 05-11-2008 03:44 PM

Whatever you guys all decide, it is a damn nice car! I think it should be worth more. As of today I have $62,500 in mine KMP 498 and 55K for that fine example is a steal.

Bud Man 05-11-2008 04:31 PM

All:

I don't access this site much anymore, but knew once the car was listed that some chatter would start. I have owned #142 for several years, as Jamo knows, and have thoroughly enjoyed it. I don't drive it much anymore, and as most of us know, these cars are meant to be driven and enjoyed; it is time for someone else to do so. Life and interests change.

I set a very reasonable reserve on the car, and that reserve was met. Now, it will go to the highest bidder, and, if that means the current bidder at the current price, well, that's ok....that's the chance you take. The market will determine its value....all I can say is that I had a ball owning it and that the winner will get a nice car.

To those who have complimented the car, many thanks for your kind words.

To those who have made uninformed comments about the auction, try to do your homework before you post, (and especially to you-know-who-you-are), before you start casting aspersions on a person's business ethics.

Enjoy your cars and the journey, and be safe.....Cheers!

Very nice car. Again, I am actually trying to figure out my signature.

David Kirkham 05-11-2008 09:34 PM

Bud,

Sorry to see the car go! I just want to add that I have known Bud for many, many years. He has always been a great customer to deal with and he always came through on his word with us.

When I saw the car (years ago now) it was really nice. I even gave it a few personal touches!

The car may leave, but Kirkham Customers are customers for life. Even the next guy down the line who buys the car will be a Kirkham Customer. Some of my favorite customers bought their cars on the used market.

David
