Homecomming? Say end of June? Drive Over?
If the Kirkhams are not sent to the "Front" for being 'Right Wing" Terrorists will there be a Homecoming? When?
I would like to form a posy and drive over. Start in SJ Valley Pick up folks form LA say in Mojave-spend night in Tonopah drive into Provo. Come back through Death Valley spend night in Furnace Creek. It is about 11 to 12 hours from Exeter. So about the same from LA. |
Any info from Kirkhams about 2009 homecomming??????????..Ron
|
I'm gettiing the feeling that the economy may have taken out our beloved "homecoming." Anyone in the "know" want to comment....where is Joe when you need him?
|
Jaysus...let's keep it easy. What about a California Kirkham gathering?

Cali Kirkham Gathering
Great Idea Jamo.
Haven't been the same since Reno got axed. K |
Well, Duane's CH1 is a damn good sustitute...looking forward to the second one in September.
But an all-arruminum gathering here would be an incredible sight. I recall David telling me a few years ago that there's more tin cans in this state than anywhere else...don't know if that's still true. We do have a wide variety of the bestest routes in the world to explore. |
Where,,,,when??????????????
|
Your place...breakfast tomorrow?
I don't freeking know...where do you want to go? If it's hot, let's get the hell out of the Valley! My car's in the shop til August. |
Jamo, what is wrong with your chariot of fire?
How about Tonapauh Nv in early fall? Too hor now and not enough time to gather the troops. There are miles of open road from all directions and sort of centralized. Basically a good "Drivers" drive from anywhere. The town is small and no shopping- could be a mans run. Do a long weekend? Easy |
Nothing major...just needed some time with the motor out to redo the clutch slave/fork setup which was never quite right since switching over from the internal POS a few years ago, and Kee needed to lay his hands on what's left of my second gear synchro (I tend to be a bit rough on those in my cars). Been driving this thing hard with more than a little track time over the past few years, so figured it was too hot and I'm too busy right now to be driving much. Slapping on the fancy expansion tank the Boys sent me a long time ago (it's been a rather large paperweight since then)...and just generally cleaning stuff up. So far, the damn thing's solid.
Been to Tonopah a few times driving the beast and shuffling cars back and forth from Northern California to Shelby for friends...great area. We had a U2 jockey with us...always figured they'd come looking for him if we got lost. Some great roads a bit closer too...flip through Death Valley via Panamount and get some track time in Pahrump (Spring Mtn...nice folks); 33 to Ventura, the hills and valleys east of Santa Barbara and back via Maricopa, etc. Any other ideas from tin can owners? |
I like the Central Coast idea, Paso or Santa Barbara. Good roads, good wine.
Sorta Midway between the Bay LA and the valley. What say ye. K |
You know, if we all met at Harris Ranch (perfectly situated right on the 5 for everyone), we could snake over west on the 198, which has been all repaved once you cross the line into Monterey Co., then go south to Paso Robles, head on over to Cambria...

We are cooking up the 2009 Homecoming right now...
David :):):) |
If possible, might I suggest the week of July 27-31. I just happen to have that one off. Alternatively, I hear that the week of October 19th is a beautiful time of year in Provo/Orem.
Any later than that, and I'll have a newborn on my hands, and will be devoid of free time until my wife says so. |
We are thinking about a September time frame on a Saturday for the Track Day.
David :):):) |
Saturday track day, guess I'll be pulling an all-nighter on I80.
See ya there. |
