Got ERA #163 north of 150 some years ago....lost the ability to effect path with steering. Realized mortality that day. After that, I wondered if the radiator orientation makes what difference on front end lift. Also, had the front grill splitter. Some kits have vertical radiators, some are well laid back.....the latter my preference for aesthetics.
#163 had a built 488 cuin aluminum FE, so power enough to go. 60's aerodynamics doesn't make it too smart, though. |

140 + in my shelby on Route 5 locally and it felt light at that speed I concur with the butt plug comment !!!! As for a Kirkham Morris Clement seems to have bragging rights, look at this article from KitCar. Not quite my taste, buddy.
Funny story...I took the Vette up to about 165 or so when I first got it and I started hearing this godawful scraping noise from the front...figured I blew the sum***** up. Stopped, checked under the hood...nuthin. Got on my knees to look under the front...the rubber spoiler lip showed scraping from the road...the basturd had pushed down that much up front...opposite of a Cobra. Got quieter as time went on (kept scraping more of it away) but had to replace the lip a year ago from a steep driveway mishap, and the noise came back on those excursions that occur in the middle of nowhere...getting it worn in again. ;) |
