Howard, you'll never get all that HP to the ground with a car this light and this short a wheelbase. At least with any type of street tire. You might also look at the Michelin Pilots. I've had some guys tell me they stick good enough to use as a track tire. The Kumos should work great on the track if your looking to go to 17" wheels.

For a more vintage look several guys here use the Goodyear big lettered slicks.

There is nothing that beats the look of the big letter Goodyears on a Cobra. However, if your building your car for something more than just looking at it, there are better choices. The Goodyears are at there best when at the track or at car shows. I will have to admitt that the car might see the local Starbucks but that is only a couple of blocks away. They are not built for day to day usage, they loose air over a short period of time, they flat spot easilly, they get out of round if the car sits for any length of time and they pick up every stone, pebble or whatever and thrash your paint job in no time at all, other than that there great.
On the track it's another story. When there hot they stick like glue. You can, however, over drive the tire and when these things break loose there is no coming back. They are not forgiving like some of the 17" track tires that are around.

My setup is pretty standard, three link, SN95 rear end, VPM swaybars, PRO shocks and Team III or Diamond Racing Wheels, I don't go to the track without two sets of tires.

By the way the pictures of the car look great. I look forward to seeing it at WSCB.
