I am planning on attending the sema show this year, but I have a question. do you have to be in the car industry to get tickets or can you just walk up and buy them there? I thought I heard years ago you had to sell parts or make parts for cars to get invited. Thanks

To get into the SEMA show you or your employer must be a member of SEMA. If you are, you can go online and register. Last year was $25 per attendee and I'm pretty sure it's the same this year.
You may be able to join SEMA under Category 2 ($100+ dues) which include Car Dealers, Installer/Restyler, Race Industry Support, Restorer, and several more categories that you may fit into. Another possibility is Category 4 ($150 dues) (Supporting Membership) which include Associations, Car Clubs and Trade School/University/College.
Or find a friend that is already a member that will purchase a show ticket for you under their membership.

thanks doug, I guess I will have to try the last idea. I dont fall into any of the categories. but still looking forward to attending the show, I understand the cars are outside. The inside houses new products, I think really I am mostly wanting to see the cars.

You might try a few of your local auto shops and ask if they are members of SEMA. You can become an "employee" and get into the show for the $25 ticket.

Not officially. But if you want to sneak in, just add your name to the list ( http://www.ffcobra.com/forums/showthread.php?t=231370 ) and don't say anything about what you own. Don't ask - Don't tell. But Toby's place is great. If you choose to do that, have a great time.

We want to see pics (and not necessarily of the cars, either).

I don't like to be late for the show, so I'm coming in tomorrow. I will be hanging at the Pavillion or Toby's at Harrah's. If anyone is going to be there come on down and I'll be wearing a green shirt with GC Peformance Cars on it or a Blue T shirt with the same. Come by and say hello. See you all there.

Blittleton, looks like I will be there, I have your phone # and will give you a call. I am staying at a hotel just down the block from the sema show. dont know how far harrah's is from the convention center but will figure that out when I get there.

The weather was great and there was so much to see. My feet will probably hurt for the rest of the year.
