Death of an era......

....... well? Is it? Why should it go on?

ROUSHAC 09-04-2007 08:44 PM

Are you kidding, Rick?

If there was no LCS, what would I have to look forward to all winter long?

Great people to meet, great cars to see, and great times there to be had by one and all.

Naumoff 09-04-2007 08:55 PM

Dave,
I think Rick is talking about Cobra replicas.

When they pull my mangled bloody dead body from the twisted burning wreckage.

and if he is talking about LCS, well I can't miss what I never experienced. ;)

rdorman 09-04-2007 09:01 PM

Tony, you don't know what you have missed. :)

The rest. Is it?

Chaplin 09-04-2007 09:04 PM

Phew, for a moment I thought this thread was about somebody wrecking an ERA. :)

 Good one! That would be tragic

OhBuoy 09-04-2007 09:22 PM

No, say it is not so! If we are going to put an end to it, we need to go out with a bang! You guys do a great job! I really hope that I can be there in '08. Unfortunately, only time will tell. If we get a big vehicle, and snucker a nurse into comming with us, or talk someone else into driving the big vehicle while my wife takes care of Tommy and Brandon and I participate in the events, I will be there!

rdorman 09-04-2007 11:18 PM

I am not stating any thing. Perhaps this is just a plea for workers. Perhaps it is just a plea for organizers. Perhaps it is time for me to go to bed;)

Then you have to keep it going till I can make it, don't you. :)

Lowell W 09-05-2007 06:03 AM

Rick,

I can't even imagine how much time and effort you Ohio guys put into this show, year after year, for no personal benefit other than a few "Attaboys". It must be, as one of my college professors said, like poking a stick in your eye: it feels great when it's over.

Cystic Fibrosis research would continue without your help and the Cobra community would continue to enjoy our cars, but not having the LCS would be a MAJOR loss for many of us who start planning for the next event on the way home. I, for one, would understand if you decide you don't want to continue to spend so much of your life on this project, but I would really, really miss the entire annual London experience.

Thanks,

Lowell

trularin 09-05-2007 06:12 AM

I will work the show as I did last year.

How about not being so cryptic that we are left with a "feeling". fill us in, let us know what you are dealing with.

GET IT OUT IN THE OPEN!!!!

:D

rdorman 09-05-2007 07:50 AM

Am I saying anything? ;)

Seriously, this event relies on volunteers. You can be an organizer no matter where you are in the country. If you want to keep LCS, get involved.

olddog 09-05-2007 11:12 AM

I first thought this would be the announcement that London has stopped it, as they can no longer stomach the liability. After the parade that killed a half dozen everyone is re-thinking.

This last year LCL shorten up and tamed down the rides so much, I didn't bother to buy a ticket - I bought some extra raffle tickets instead. Heath tried to throttle the Mopar Boys as well.

First I do not blame them, second I was surprised it ever happened to begin with. Don't get me wrong I loved it.

I finally got a Cobra, so I hope 2008 still happens.

PS
Rick where do I learn about the Ohio Cobra Club and what it does? The only thing I have saw online is the LCS. Maybe I didn't look hard enough.

HEAR YE! HEAR YE! I nominate Rick Dorman for organizing next years LCS. HIP! HIP! HURRAY! ;)

trularin 09-05-2007 04:37 PM

Okay, so what are you in need of?

I mean, is there a signup to work site/place/forum that we should go to?

Rick, throw us a bone here.

:D :D

rdorman 09-06-2007 07:13 AM

People that will commit to putting serious time into organizing the event and that are very persistent!

trularin 09-06-2007 07:19 AM

What about some of those renegade nuns??

Are all of the people out of the picture? Are we starting WITH NOTHING?

Or, are there just certain events that need attention?

Gee Rick, details would be good here.

I mean, most of us are from out of town and lend a hand when we get there.

Perhaps there are event or things we can do or help with.

:D :D

Oh heck no! In town or out of town it doesn't matter. For 5+ years I have been helping put on an event in London and 95% of what I do is sitting right here at the computer and on the phone. The WCCC did the cruise on Friday and they are not close by. What is needed is more like what WCCC did. Clubs and people to step up and say "Hey, I can do that". The OCC loves hosting this event but there is only so much energy and time that folks can commit to before they just plain get tired. Once they all pass out from exhaustion, what happens then? IMHO, the future of this event is in the hands of all the folks attend the event... not just those who organize today.

Excaliber 09-06-2007 10:25 AM

olddog, what parade where a half dozen people were killed are you referring to?

I can certainly understand a guy buring out from the work involved putting on the show, it's a huge undertaking and a plea for help.
