Mid Ohio Cobra School 2009 ???

Does anyone know if there is going to be a Mid Ohio Cobra School on Tuesday and Wednesday just prior to LCS this year like there has been the last few years? TIA

Sure hope so, it's been a blast! :D

I would love to make it this year too! If for no other reason than to see you Dave! :D

ROUSHAC 01-02-2009 09:10 PM

I really missed seeing you and all the other folks at Run 'n Gun last year, Dean.

As soon as you guys have finalized a date with Gateway, I'll be signed up for this year. :D

Mid Ohio School

We are in the process of talking to Mid Ohio. It looks like it will be the Tuesday/Wednesday before the show just like last year. Once we finalize all the details we will post them on www.londoncobrashow.com.

Thanks for the great news Brian. Let us know when it is a "done deal" and we'll talk it up here and elsewhere to keep the interest and participation high!

I would really like to do the Mid-Ohio gig this year. It would be my first time so I assume I would be in the "novice" section (which is fine by me). Does the broomstick rule apply? I have the standard SPF roll bar but I think my noggin sticks up a tiny bit higher than the bar. Are there taller roll bars that pass muster available on the market?

I don't think the broom stick rule is enforced at this event but Rob could probably ask. It is really kind of silly to assume the windshiels frame will support the car if it was upside down anyway.

Dean and Others:

Mid Ohio has a "broomstick rule" now for convertibles. We (www.MVPTrackTime.com) have had to change the Mid Ohio requirments for the Honda S2000 and Porsche Boxster. CYA at the track!

Mid-Ohio school

Ah the old broomstick rule. I'll have to check but I think since it is a school and not a competition event, the broomstick rule does not apply. I'm not sure how many Cobras roll bar would support the car, other than FFR. But since no one is going to flip, (RIGHT?), it shouldn't be an issue. I think we want to include not exclude. I will check and post here with the answer.

I ask Mid-Ohio specifically about this and got no response other than "We would like to get going with promoting it and getting it up online to realize better success than last year." I'm sure they know what our cars are like after three years of running there. Again, I think we want to include not exclude,( My personal opinion).

I'm going to plan on attending. I watched the 2008 LCS video, Mid-Ohio School segment and it appeared (I could be wrong) to me that there was at least one hat a bit higher than a brmstk would allow. My plan is to keep quiet and have a great time at the school. Short of an unforeseen emergency, I'll be there.

I think I'm one of the guys with their helmet about even with the top of the roll bar. I'll be there again this year. What a blast!

ROUSHAC 02-17-2009 05:22 PM

They are pretty loose about the broomstick rule at the Mid Ohio Cobra School. ;)
