The Kaiser Family Foundation Healthcare Premiums Calculator
The Kaiser Family Foundation website has a calculator that allows you to look at the different government healthcare premiums.
http://healthreform.kff.org/SubsidyCalculator.aspx
An example includes a family of four (age 35) earning $70,000/yr pays $8400/yr for insurance under the Baucus plan.
Sorry if this is a repost.

Bear in mind the cost for a family, business or individual is a huge factor in the current debate and in particular an area the legislators are trying to get a handle on.

Bear in mind that I looked at all the potential premiums at various incomes and ages for a family of 4 WITHOUT employer coverage. All of them are at, above, or pushing $1000. per month. Even AFTER Government subsidies of up to $3500 per year.
Where is a family of 4 going to come up with $1000. a month for health care, when they make $100,000.00 or less?
And bear also in mind that is a "best case scenario," NOT REALITY. You and the liberals in Congress keep griping about pre-existing conditions. You want insurance companies to cover such people. That means you want insurance companies to issue policies WITHOUT UNDERWRITING. = no insurance!
OR
GREATLY increased premiums! So the guy making 100K a year with a wife and 2 kids now pays $2200. per month because his wife had a lump removed. She's covered, but they can't pay the premium.
So after months of slurs and lies in both directions, ALL plans being considered are not worth a popcorn fart in a hurricane!
IF they pass this GARBAGE, they deserve to be tarred and feathered and not re-elected. If it IS all about the people that need it most, ALL of the present proposals FAIL to deliver for those people!

I haven't seen a good answer. The "slurs and lies in both directions" have only confused folks.
To compound things, fears about behind the door dealings are growing (at least with me). I read that Harry Reid has exempted Nevada from the cost of the Medicaid expansion called for in the Baucus Bill. I don't exactly what that means or even if I should be concerned...it just sounds fishy.
Also in mid September that there were 564 amendments trying to attach to the Baucus Bill. Maybe that's normal congress stuff...just sounds odd.
I'm not comfortable with what I reading and hearing from AARP, the Democrats, or the Republicans.

...their working on it. A lot of the Republicans are offering some good ideas, some feedback. Others, like we see here in the Lounge so often, only offer up things like:
The sky is falling! Maintain the status quo at all costs! Were doomed, DOOMED I tell you!
You might want to check back with your parties leaders before going out to far on a limb. Oh wait, I forgot, you don't have one!! Well, it's understandable then you flounder around in confusion and despair. As Computerworks might say, "Carry on".

Ah, the normal liberal answer to logic, ridicule. Probably works with other liberals, doesn't work with people with minds

The avowed purpose of the health care, now, health insurance overhaul was to lower costs and to cover those without coverage.
It does not lower costs to individuals or society in general. Show me how it does.
It admits that 6% will remain uncovered, that is 20 million people. That does not bother me that they are not covered, but trying to pass a bill that does not do what it is supposed to do does.
The cost of the program says $400 billion can had in Medicare & Medicaid savings.
Kindly name any Gov. program that saved $100 Billion, $50., $10,
$1. Name one that has NOT cost FAR more than predicted, or even one that stayed within budget.

In keeping with Jamo's analytical form...
Republican: The Health Bill leaves out 6% or 20 million people (not that a Republican really cares about that, just saying)...
Democrat: The Health Bill covers additional millions that weren't covered before (now were making progress).
An interesting insight to mind set of one party vs the other.

Some of us realize that we cannot protect our fellow man from himself.
And the liberal dream of Government supporting us from the cradle to the grave is blatantly IMPOSSIBLE.
No one is arguing the beauty of your dream.
Its lovely, just impossible. NOT impractical, NOT unlikely, NOT difficult, but absolutely IMPOSSIBLE. Already 47% ARE supported by Government assistance. And we are beyond flat broke. The further past 50% that figure goes the faster we run out of money. And we SURELY will run out of money. obummer's deficit for this year is $1.4 TRILLION. X 4 years = $5.6 TRILLION. Democrats went insane over Bush increasing the deficit by $5 TRILLION in 8 years, and well they should have. All of us should have. But obummer the dolt, is on a path to exceed Bush's insanity in only 4 years. WITHOUT a health care bill, without cap n trade, without an education overhaul. How is that OK with you?
And being proud of covering 27 million more while still leaving 20 million swinging in the wind is bullsh!t. How can you justify saying that 47 million MUST be covered, then say 20 million will remain uncovered and call it a good job? Its NOT a good job! It GUARANTEES that ANOTHER Health CARE overhaul WILL be demanded in a year or 2 to cover the FAILINGS of this ill conceived bill!
And, of course, you AVOIDED the question of when or what Gov. program has cost as projected.
The last Government HEALTH INSURANCE program, MEDICARE, was projected to cost $65 MILLION per year. That is $650 MILLION per decade. Instead, in 44 years, it HAS cost just under $5 TRILLION. A MERE 186 times more than estimated, per year.
NOT a Republican view, NOT a Democrat view. The view of an American Vet, deathly afraid for the future of his beloved country!

Try debating well considered questions and facts with something besides brainwashed bull, ridicule, and humorless jokes, and I'd be happy to show you my well developed and wide ranging sense of humor!
Many here, including me, would happily debate issues with you, IF you would debate using intelligence instead of Utopian brainwashing. You never answer a question, never present a logical response to an 'inconvenient fact!'
You've become such a bore
I may have to put you on ignore!

What part of that confuses you? I thought it was pretty clear. While it may be considered funny, I'm also dead serious. Second term, reforms continue. Hoo Rah!
Seems pretty clear this will not impact the deficit. The question of WHO and how much any given person will ultimately pay is still hotly debated.
