Which state has the best Mule Deer?
Only in the lounge can a hunitng question be put forth.
In your opinion, which state has the best mule deer? :D |
I liked Eastern Oregon. Nice size deer, and since they mostly ate out of the farmers fields, they tasted great.

For large trophy bucks, I liked Utah just plan on some hikes. I saw some of the largest herds in Oregon with great locations for tree stands. What state do you live in?

I have to vote for Montana--have had good luck there over the years.

Utah, around Strawberry lake has some nice trophy sized bucks.

I'm in Michigan. I am looking for a hunt and mule deer look to be a good challenge.

I'd look at Montana, but check this link for how to get an out of state hunting license, each is differnet and some are damn near impossible (or not worth the effort) to both obtain the license and a tag.http://www.sportsmanlogue.com/travel...-of-state.html
Again, each state is different, and the other part is checking your style of hunting. For example, Nevada has some great hunting for Elk, but if your not a resident...good luck drawing a tag (they have a lotto/points system) for rifle. But archery or black powder tags can be obtained with less wait/trouble. Good luck! |

IColorado deer and elk are kind of gamey tasting because they eat local grasses and shrubs.
Iowa deer are corn and alfalfa fed. Not as "bitter". Depends if you want steak/roast or sausage. |

Bart, that is a good cartridge.
We usually butcher steaks, burger and then sausage if we have time. I like to have Blue Ribbon do my hunter sausage, they are amazingly good. Do any of you do your own processing? :D |
