A veteran's day poem from my friend
I have a good friend who should have been a writer. He wrote this poem yesterday and I did not get a chance to see it until this morning. I had to share.
Quote:
The Soldier
He stands on a hill,
in a far and distant land.
She cares for her "sister",
in a tent on the sand.
His little girl turned one today,
so he sends his love from far away.
She asks her mom not to cry,
as she boards the bus and waves goodbye.
He won't rest until his duty is done,
his mission is over, the battle is won.
She wonders if God will hear her pleas,
as she prays from her bunk in the open seas.
The choice they made was not for them,
it was for you and me.
They leave their family not knowing,
what their fate will be.
They stand proudly across the world,
to keep us safe and free.
-Marc Taylor
A modest and insufficient thank you to all those who have served.
