...
Kind of nice to see Ford is standing on their own two feet ...so far.
They have been the most successful in adapting to new world energy realities.
Bill Ford sounds a bit like his Grandpa. Henry Ford was the wise entrepreneur who thought the common working man needed enough wage to buy the product he built. Helped build the American middle class. Us.

Henry Ford was also the guy that told FDR to take a flying leap when the government wanted to dictate wages that should be paid.

Probably true.
And Bill will likely be saying the same thing to Big O.

That was a pretty ugly time when Henry told FDR to take a flying leap. Union's and Union busting were literally "fights", people died. Ford opposed the Union even after they became law. I'm not big on Union's, I basically don't support the concept. BUT, there was a time and a place for them. That was the time, Henry shot himself in the foot over it.

There area couple of unions that still could be useful if they weren't so corrupt. The mine workers for safety comes to mind. But the rest have long since outlived any usefulness they may have had years ago.

Ron,
Everything has elements of corruption ever since Eve swiped the apple. Darn naughty girls. : pause: Have to picture Eve with apple juice on her lips here. :unpause:
Ron, IMO, when the unions go, the middleclass will go too. Wages will more approximate that of Chinese Coolies.
Everyone, but the usual 1 percent, on this forum will drop to the poor class. But it is OK, because it won't be us. It will be our children.
This ...assuming nobody in the top 1 percent bothers to post here with the little people.

Don't forget, O has a position on "equal pay" and that's coming soon.

Sounds like Bill Ford wants some of that free taxpayer money.
GM and Chrysler stabilized? WHAT? The revolving doors of chief executives are stabilized? They are both now junk companies. They went broke because they had NO ONE with the ability or balls to run an automotive company. And now they have Government lackeys even less qualified. Unions got bribed by the Government, bond holders got absolutely ROBBED by the Government.
Yeah, they're stabilized! That's why Chrysler is counting on Fiat to save them? Fix It Again Tony has bombed in the US a half dozen times already. And now will go against the Japanese/Asian cars holding the strongest market position they've ever had.
GM and Chrysler are history, but they are not smart enough to crawl into their coffins.
