Democratic Party - Party of Diversity

I'm starting to understand now.:rolleyes::LOL:

Reid: Obama Has No “Negro Dialect”‎
Journalists Mark Halperin and John Heilemann reported the remarks in their new book “Game Change,” which was purchased by CNN Saturday at a Washington-area bookstore. The book is slated for official release next Tuesday.

“He (Reid) was wowed by Obama’s oratorical gifts and believed that the country was ready to embrace a black presidential candidate, especially one such as Obama – a ‘light-skinned’ African American ‘with no Negro dialect, unless he wanted to have one,’ as he said privately. Reid was convinced, in fact, that Obama’s race would help him more than hurt him in a bid for the Democratic nomination,” they write.

[A]s Hillary bungled Caroline, Bill’s handling of Ted was even worse. The day after Iowa, he phoned Kennedy and pressed for an endorsement, making the case for his wife. But Bill then went on, belittling Obama in a manner that deeply offended Kennedy. Recounting the conversation later to a friend, Teddy fumed that Clinton had said, A few years ago, this guy would have been getting us coffee.

infighting in any group, whether a family or political party is not a pretty thing. No holds barred, Say anything to get some doubt to arise about your advisary. That's not an endorsement of Reids & Clintons remarks, just the reality.

Remember how the Bush'es slandered McCain during the primary race in 2000, claiming he had a mixed race child he was hiding ? Same story, different verse.

The point is, democrats can make racist comments. Republicans may not. And if they do, it is the end of their career. Not so for democrats.

(R) Examples: Trent Lott, Senator Allan, republicans, gone

(D) Examples: Senator Byrd, Harry Reid, democrats, still in power

And this will not hurt Harry Reid (until election day)

The strategy I ref'ed above was pure racism by the Bush camp. Didn't hurt them any. They won.

Reid's comment, while not politically correct, was a timely recognition of a fact few people actually talk about in polite company. As a political observation it was pretty much right on the money. The political climate was ready to elect a black man, Obama had the "right stuff" for the job.

Reid spoke the truth, and thereby, firmly planted his foot in his mouth. :)

Mike, you have to take their comments in context...everyone knows that Reid is not a racist and everyone knows Lott and Allen are... I don't know why it would have ended their careers, that was their judgement. Actually Harry is a hell of a lot smarter than I thought he was... pretty good observation...

Excaliber 01-10-2010 05:34 PM

Now Clintons comment seems pretty straight forward, it's "racist".

Simple observation of a Southern Gentleman with some truth? Perhaps so, but also a glaring example of the need for "Southern Gentlemen" to clean up their act. Thumbs down on Clinton, there is no justification.

I don't believe it for a minute....no way...especially to Ted ....I suspect he was intending to say that Barack was just a kid in the Senate...another tempest in a teapot...the very essense of libralism is tolerance...the Blacks love Bill..

I don't know you well enough to know where you are coming from. However, I willing to let that go.

All people are racists a one level or another. And if you say that is not true, you prove my point. The real problem for conservatives is they are not allowed to express any racist POV. Dems are. Sen Byrd used the "n" word and not one thing happened to him. On top of that, he was a grand wizzard in the KKK. Pure racist BS. Democrats were the original party of racism. Any person who knows the South knows that.

Mike

If he's not a racist, then he is clearly one dumb sumb!tch and ought not be in a position of such power.

Course, his defenders are many of the same folks that suggested Jefferson was simply trying to conduct an experiment to see how our monetary water marks do in freezing temperatures.

fastd 01-11-2010 05:45 AM

No, people like Bartruff1 are able to look into Reid's, Lott's and Clinton's hearts, regardless of the words they speak, and determine whether there is any racism there. Democrats (Reid, Byrd, Clinton) = no racism; all Repubs = definitely racism.

I would agree that we are all racist to some extent...I would also agree that Byrd is very likely a racist, that doesn't cost him any votes... I doubt Lott was....I don't know about Allen...but no one forced them out....Lott would still be in the Senate if he wanted to be, the voters in Mississippi re elected him...the Republican Southern Strategy is a racist strategy...I'm not talking about the Democrates of the 1850's..the Democrats lost the South as Johnson said, when they passed the Civil Rights Legis...Bush's primary campaign against McCain in SC should disgust anyone and it worked in the South...Some one, Dean ? said that the Republican's are mean, old, rich, whiney white men...BINGO.... I don't need any slack...have at it...

He is likely done....and going back to Searchlight...but not for those reasons...now, Jefferson, he was dumb....real dumb....and is in prison where he belongs.

Very good, I think you have got it...there is a reason us blacks vote for Democrates...

fastd 01-11-2010 06:28 AM

Congratulations for proving my point without much effort.

You speak for the African-American population? All African-Americans vote for Democrats?

You said before that everyone knows that Lott and Allen are racists; now you are saying that you doubt that Lott is. Again, you prove my point; it is easy to call Lott a racist to help prove your point but not really mean it.

The Dems only need Reid for the Health Care Reform Bill..He is a liability... I would not be at all surprised if Emanual doesn't let him know that he " needs to spend more time with his family".....like Dodd....Emanual is not one to waste a opportunity...Barack is a man in a Hurry and he wants his own team... he would get rid of Pelosi if he could but they can live with her... Ried has been toast for more than a year...IMHO

Ron61 01-11-2010 08:00 AM

If Northern California had any voting power Pelosi, Fienstien, and Boxer would all have been gone some time ago. They are kept in power by the money in the Bay Area and L.A.area.
