I think this lady would like us to return to Civil War style combat, nothing like putting a couple thousand soldiers standing 100 yards appart standing in formation and fire away. Yeah, that's alot better then taking out the threat w/ no possible loss of life for us using a drone. Idiot.

Interesting comment she made about the Drones being Judge, jury and excutioner.

Uh, that sounds a lot like "war" to me, troops make those decisions all the time.

"A drone attack is an execution without a trial," said Mr. Peterson, who wore a T-shirt with his message: "Drones are for cowards."

Guess maybe it is time for him to go back into the service and find out what it is like over there. As for that old bat, she is wanting to be the next Hanoi Jane.

I am guessing this idiot has no military experience? The max effective range of all of our weapons were burned into our memory so you could engage at max effective range if possible. It's called modern warfare...

According to the article he is supposedly a Navy veteran. Must have stayed on land and been a cook as I am sure using the big guns would be cowardly in his eyes. I am all for using any means it takes to accomplish the job and not endangering any of our people and the Drones area great step I think.

To her those troops are "Murderers". She is a lot like some people I know, who truly do not realize what it takes to be free. I know one lady who actually believes with her whole being that if we were to pull out of the middle east completely, apologize for our "interference", and show we are sorry by disbanding our military, all of our problems would end. You cannot convince her that the military is what gives us our freedoms, she has even told me that the revolution is much exaggerated by our history books. She basically believes that the King withdrew his troops because we threw some tea in the harbor. That was the end. The people like Cindy S and the lady I know cannot be convinced and no matter what happens it is the military's fault. People like them have been lucky enough to not see true evil. The idea of evil is more of an abstract that they cannot truly comprehend. In some ways I envy them, but even if they found true evil, they would not be able to understand it.

Joe,

Are you sure that you don't have her and Obama mixed up?

There was a 2 page write up in our local paper yesterday and it was all by people here that voted for Obama and are now really ticked off as they got their change. Every one of them is out of jobs and most won't be hired back. One guy said he believed everything that Obama said and should have known that no politician could tell the truth. I thought about posting the article but it is far to long for a cut and paste and the link won't be any good today.

They can blame Obama if it makes them feel better, but the economic collapse leading to their job lose started under Bush, as did the TARP program. They would still be without work even if McCain were in office, perhaps there would be even MORE lay off's with McCain at the helm? Certainly not less.

No Ron, unfortunately she is one who also believes everything Obama has said and believes he has said things that were never actually said. She recently said she will be happy when the banks pay back the money so the government will start passing out checks to pay for our mortgages. She is one who thinks that the government is going to give all the poor and middle class enough money to make them not have to pay any bills or work anymore. Logic and common sense do not visit her door step.

Ernie,

These were not anti Obama people. Every one of them served on the group to promote his election and they are or were die hard Obama supporters. Not a single person that was against him was interviewed. There was and is no argument about what would have happened if he hadn't been elected. The fact is they now know for certain what a liar he is.And at least in this area it is spreading.

Oh, I miss understood your post Ron as it concerns job loss.

I do wonder though, if we hadn't bailed out GM what the unemployment numbers would be as a result.

I have no idea but regardless it wouldn't have made any difference in this area. Since they shut down the logging and mills, there just isn't much here, and most of what is here they bring people in form other areas where they have businesses they are downsizing. Even the telephone company only has one or two people here now that know anything at all.

There is a general missconception about WAR.

WAR is supposed to be so horrific that people do not want to engage in it. That is what WAR is.

Interesting.

I personally do not like what the bailouts are/were. I will not get a handout if I fail, so that part bugs me. BUT there is no question that it did save jobs, because there would have been a lot of small companies out of business, and then even Ford would have struggled to build cars with a lack of supporting parts. That is easy to see. The amount of jobs saved is not so clear though. Just as well speculate on the unemployment under Kerry with this being his 2nd term if he had won last time. Completely useless as it is pure speculation.

Oh yea, it saved jobs and only cost about a $1,000,000 to save the $ 30,000 a year job. Government at it's best.
