Post Barrett-Jackson Auto Auction

Did anyone watch any of the Barrett-Jackson Auto Auction yesterday? I saw some pretty nice cars but of course the really top line ones will be on Saturday. I did see a couple that I thought were good buys for the price.

Wayne,

I would like to go over there one of these days and see all of the cars. I had a chance 3 years ago as a guy who used to live here and had a car hauling business always went and he asked me if I wanted to go but I already had other plans and couldn't. Since it is still raining lightly here, but now is getting cold and the wind is starting again, I guess I will watch it this evening also.

I spoke to a friend that went last year and he said it is quite the show. Saturday afternoon is especially entertaining with the free booze, big egos, fat bank accounts, and TV cameras.

Wayne: fat bank accounts!! With yours you should most definitely be there.

I did see one kind of strange car yesterday and it never brought much. It was a 60s Chevy but they had no papers, weren't sure if the engine was a 348 or 409, it had all the trim for the big sized sports car that year but they didn't know if it was just the regular car with that added on or what. I guess the door tag and the other one that should have been visible were not there. I would be really leery of buying a car in that kind of situation.

I went last night and watched a factory five cobra sell for $27000. Anything short of original csx's never seem to be able to gather much interest or money at B-J. It took them 5 minutes to get the bidding up to $22000. The top seller today has been $75000 I think. I am going again tomorrow weather permitting and the dollar values will start to rise by Friday night.

I noticed the price difference in the two nights also. Wonder if it was the build or color of the cars or if people are now waiting for the better cars to start to appear tonight and tomorrow. I was a little surprised the first night at how much that one Cobra went for. I like to guess at what cars will sell for and I missed that one by a fair amount.
