Obama, Jobs to be # 1 Priority

Well looks like the election has caused some re-thinking of the priorities in the National Zoo.

I love this line "Obama was furious with Democrat Martha Coakley for what many in Washington saw as inept handling of a once-sure victory for the seat long held by Kennedy. ". Gee, maybe it wasn't her inept handling, but his own priorities which resulted in the loss. What the hell good is national health care if 10% of the population doesn't have jobs to pay for the required insurance??? This guy is a mental midget.

Ron61 01-21-2010 05:51 AM

Besides that didn't he make a trip down there to help assure her that she would be elected? Maybe he doesn't have as much pull with the people as he thinks he does.

Ron :)

Excaliber 01-21-2010 08:02 AM

I'm surprised the Demo party doesn't call it like it really is. Coakley barely ran a campaign until very late in the game. She ASSUMED she would be elected, it's always been that way, it's a Kennedy seat, what could possibly go wrong? She didn't even try, HER fault, period.

Now the Dem's have to take some heat for not recognizing the problem earlier and kicking some butt as it concerns HER campaign. Their actions were to little to late.

Which is precisely WHY we need health care reform.

You think Obama (or any POTUS) has some magic wand he can wave and recover the jobs that have been lost? They are over, they are not coming back, the job picture is irrevocably changed for thousands if not millions in this country. Turning his attention to the matter will likely result in another round of expenditure's to create new job positions to replace those that were lost. This by it's very nature is going to be a long term investment. When immediate results are not forth coming, and they won't be, somehow it will be his fault.

Ron61 01-21-2010 08:42 AM

A lot of the jobs won't ever come back and they want to force those people as well as all others to buy this pork bill. They can barely pay their monthly bills now, they don't need half of their income going to one of Obama's dumb plans. Get the economy fixed first. This so called Health Plan does nothing for that.

Ron %/

Excaliber 01-21-2010 08:50 AM

Of course you recall Ron that personal cost would be adjusted based on income if the bill were to pass. Those just barely making it would not be in the poor house as a result. In fact, they may well be better off financially as they could get preventitive care, potentially saving them money in the long run. Good for them, good for the country.

Ron61 01-21-2010 08:56 AM

:)

Ernie,

If after reading all that adjustment crap, they would just make a couple of minor changes it could work out well. But to really get any help the way it is worded now on about 40 pages of complete babble, you have to almost be living in the street. I still haven't gotten it all figured out yet and I have been reading that section for a week or so. It goes on about poverty level and then 400% of poverty level and then a percentage of any income and on and on like that. Really doesn't define anything that I have managed to see so far. Just leaves a lot of unanswered questions.

Ron

The only thing I see is that obummer now thinks he has to campaign harder to become president.

From the 'new plan':

Among the ideas Obama has already proposed to generate jobs and will promote:

_New spending for highway and bridge construction.

More than half the old Stimulus remains unspent. Wasn't ALL of it supposed to go to fixing the infrastructure?

_Tax cuts for small businesses that increase their payrolls.

If you're a small business and cannot increase your payroll, do you get a tax increase for not making the obummer look good?

_Money to retrofit millions of homes to be more energy-efficient and create "green" jobs.

Looks like his Cap 'n' Trade agenda is still alive and well!

_Funds to help state and local governments avert layoffs of public-sector employees.

And still trying to increase the size of Government. We had and still have too many Gov. "employees!"

Just more campaign promises from a guy that is excellent at getting a job, but has no interest or knowledge of DOING the job when he has it.

Jimmy Carter's smile just widens some more. History will be kinder to him after this buffoon.

SPF2245 01-21-2010 10:05 AM

Ex, I agree we need health care reform. We need caps spent on the costs, not insurance plans which line the pockets of the companies with the few dollars left out of the few of us with jobs. Why not just call this a tax on those with jobs to pay for those who want the nice services provided by companies like Blue Cross not medicare. Really, there is no reform with this bill...just more money coming out of my pocket with no increase in care or reduction in costs. I read the adjustments proposed under O's health plans for everyone, and as I'm to understand my out of pocket would go from ~$4,500 per year to almost $10K. Because of my duel income I don't get but a few percent back. Never mind this more then double my costs for what, so some idiot who hasn't worked a day in his life can have access to my same health plan??????

Obama needs to focus on jobs and the economy, period. Then tackle caps on the profits made by drug companies, insurance companies and lawsuits. Then the actual cost of medical care will fall in line with what people can afford with or without insurance.

I keep saying it, thread after thread and it's clear most of you folks only hear what you want to hear.

Those who have "never worked a day in their life" ALREADY HAVE HEALTH CARE. It's called MEDICARE.

WHAT THE HECK IS THE PROBLEM WITH YOU PEOPLE THAT YOU DON'T GET THAT?

Ron61 01-21-2010 11:11 AM

Ernie,

All working people that I know paid into and have Medicare. Those that didn't work and pay into it have to pay for the Part A coverage.

Ron

Excaliber 01-21-2010 11:17 AM

Ron, you mean Medicaid I think? Medicare is essentially welfare (those who never worked a day in their life, have less than $2,000 in asessts, etc.) I don't know a lot about either program, just the basics. As I understand Medicare you don't pay for anything, you just can't HAVE anything (asessets wise).

Your information is 100% wrong. If they never worked a day in their life and have no property and no income then they might have MEDICAID. But they do not have MEDICARE.

Watching Ernie trying to sound like an Independent instead of the liberal he is. Is like watching a Flat Earther trying to point things out on a world globe!:D

Excaliber 01-21-2010 11:22 AM

Yup, it's easy to mix up the two terms. ONE is welfare, a limited income is only one aspect of qualifying for it.

Trying to have a reasonable conversation with such a radical right wing nut as Dan40 is all but impossible.

Excaliber 01-21-2010 11:27 AM

Here's the bottom line:

For those that keep saying the current health care debate grants coverage to those the "lazy bums" that "never worked a day in their life" your really STUPID. Your an IDIOT. You stick your foot in your mouth and loudly proclaim that you really don't have a clue as to what this health bill is even about.

Really, your so freakin' twisted in your hate and need to lash out and whine and cry and moan you can't even understand the process. In short, you sound like and ARE a complete basket case idiot! No smiley...

Ah, name calling again. No bother, I consider the source. You can call me anything, I can call you LIBERAL. You got no bad name to compete with that!:p:D

Facts pissing you off is not my problem, its yours.

Excaliber 01-21-2010 11:29 AM

Name calling again? Just following your lead Dan. See my post above yours, insert your name, along with your foot, firmly in your mouth.

Juggernaut 01-21-2010 11:37 AM

The bottom line is that Obama and his administration are losing power. The MAJORITY of Americans just don't buy the crap he's trying to sell anymore, they're sick of it. He doesn't have the "magic tongue" anymore. They're tired of hearing about the chaotic healthcare issue, they want JOBS PERIOD. I think many of them are also very concerned about our national security.

That being said, time will tell, he doesn't have long to turn this mess around.

IT'S PUT UP OR SHUT-UP TIME for him.

Are you referring to the near incoherent LIBERAL RANT in post #15? Sorry but neither my name or my feet fit liberal ralphing.

You transposed MEDICARE and MEDICAID and compounded the error with misstatements about both. OK, you goofed, say Mea Culpa, do some research and move on. The mistake doesn't make you a bad guy.
Being completely brainwashed by liberalism doesn't help tho.

Straighten out your relationship issues on this thread, or you two guys will get some free time to research your respective points.

Right now, you're just wasting amps.

thanks
