Anyone heard from the old salt? He was always a pleasant fellow - no sign of him for some time now - hope he's ok.
|
Old is correct, and we have been putting miles under Imagine's keels. We passed through ther Panama Canal a little over 2 weeks ago, and left for Hawaii several days later. We got into a wee bit of some snotty weather, and lost our new main. So we truned back to Panama City, Panama to have it repaired.
We should get our sail back today. We provisioned yesterday, and will get propane today. Then sail for Las Perlas where the water is clean, and we can clean the bottom of Imagine so she can get up to speed. Then it's off for Hawaii, and home to the S.F. Bay Area. We have a SPOT TRACKER transponder that follows us with an adventure area. We post pics, and thoughts about our trip there. I will post it later when we get to a quicker internet. This one is free, but slow out in the anchorage.......i2f |
Hey, I figured you were probably out at sea somewhere. Sounds like you are having a blast in more ways than one! Too bad about the main, but in heavy weather on the ocean, I suppose a lot worse could have happened. Good to hear all is well and I look forward to the pics and details of the odyssey.

:)
Same here John. I was beginning to wonder if you had just sailed off to some tropical island to live. Sounds as if you are going to have a great trip. Enjoy the Bay Area. I, like Buzz will be looking forward to the pictures. Ron ;) |

Here's how they retrive the lines from your boat. Not actually mine, because we were the center vessel. Melanie is in charge of SPOT, so I don't really know what's there. We were the mule through the first locks......i2f |
I went through in 93, on my First Sub in the Navy. Was pretty cool watching how the locks actually worked.
|
Joe, I thought that subs traveled underwater. Must have been hard standing on the deck and seeing through that dirty water. Ron   |

I know Joe. Just kidding. I used to sit on my balcony on the 28th floor of the Holiday Inn in San Francisco and watch the subs and ships come in and leave. Also watched some of them at Pearl Harbor. At least the nice thing about a sub is you are already sunk and don't have to worry about that. Ron :p |
Hey John,
Bluestocking is keeping an eye on you at CF, for the crew up here at CC. Keep your sails full, man. |
I have returned to Panama City for a second time. The first was the loss of the mainsail, and this time. I have a large lump on my neck, and severe brain pain. It appears to be something simple, and there is some improvement. The pain has lessened along with the size of the lump;). I get results back from the doc on Monday.
If I had known I would reach 59 I would've taken better care of myself. I never thought I would see 19. I think Bluestocking is a spy:LOL:......i2f |
Don't know how simple a lump on your neck and brain pain is but it sounds like you have it under control now.Keep us updated on this please.
Hey,third try will do it ! |
John,
I hope that the lump and pain are gone by now and it was nothing serious. As Fred said, keep us updated on this and the third try will be a success. Ron :) |
Sounds similar to a reaction to an insect bite (centipede, spider, scorpion, wasp). That sort of shyte happens in the tropics and the buggers are known to occasionally hole up on boats. Whatever it is, lets hope it clears up fast and you can git to gittin' again. Third time lucky!

Has anyone heard from I2F?

Thanks Maurice. Had not seen his posts and tracking his progress was showing no updates. Was getting a bit concerned.

Good day gentlemen,
I am in the SF Bay Area. I have seen the white coats once already, and will see them again this coming week. Things are not as bad as they could be, but could be a wee bit better. The good news is that I should be back on Imagine right after the new year in Panama. I will have to prep the boat a bit, and then this time the wind is on my quarter with a straight shot for Hawaii. The last time I had to sail south halfway to the Galapagos before turning for Hawaii. Going south is a battle where going north west is a sleigh ride. They say the third time is a charm. I am taking a rabbits foot with me this next time..:LOL:;)......i2f |
