SCARY!! I'm an old SCCA corner worker, did it for about 15 years. Those people standing there unprotected are amazingly Stooopid! The words to 'stay alive by' in corner safety were, "There are only 2 places on a race track, places a race car has been and places a race car will someday go!"

Also used to go to the Mint 400 off road race in the desert outside LV. Same lack of safety. Choppers came and went "Dusting off" the wounded all day. Saw 2 guys drinking canned Buds and arguing nose to nose about something. ON THE COURSE! A race car came and they stepped back only enough to let the car pass between them. The car had to be doing 70 to 80 mph!! Of course we had coolers full of beer bungeed on the ATV's, so we weren't exactly role models either. Hey, it's hot out there!!
