Amazing Porsche on Pikes Peak
What kind of shifter does this guy have?
If you have about 12 minutes to spare, this is some of the finest in car camera I have ever seen. It is thanks to Jeff Zwart as he attacks Pikes Peak with his Porsche 2009 911 GT3...and breaks the existing class record.

The change in technique on the transition from pavement to dirt sections is incredible! Short shifting, skipped shifts going up through the gear box, counter-steering (seemingly to the limits of lock to lock)...and dodging spectators from time to time. Excellent video. The shifter is called a sequential box (like a motorcycle transmission) and the computer probably does the rev-matching on the down shifts. Push forward for down shift, pull backward for up shift; no gate to negotiate.
When I see a driver with that level of talent, I reassess my own abilities...downward

It saves on the number of hay bails they would have had to put out.

The level of effort sure changes once he gets into those dirt sections! Fun to see how he pushes it just a tad more any time there are people on the sidelines.

While I've never been anywhere near PP, I've watched varouis races on the tv many times and have always come away with one major thought and that is:
One would have to be 100% grade A,USDA certified, bonafided totally insane, crazy,or just plain stupid to do the PP hill climb, all of course in MHO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
