To those who don't believe that texting while driving is not a issue or dangerous, my niece proves that it can & will happen, although she was a good driver.

She turned around on a gravel road, was texting for directions, ran a stop sign, attempted to cross the highway and was hit broadside on the driver's side door at 55 mph. We thank the Lord that she did not suffer.

Since we can't have children, I love my niece Alley like my own daughter.

So, turn off your damn cell phone while driving, or pull over !

EarlsflyinCobra 08-09-2010 05:54 AM

So sorry for your tragic loss, godspeed to you and your family.

Buzz 08-09-2010 07:20 AM

Sorry for your family's loss - and kudos to you for sharing the heads up reminder with the rest of us.

FUNFER2 08-09-2010 07:54 AM

Thank you,
I hope that this is a lesson to all her friends and College mates that cell phones are too much of a distraction while driving. The kids today are addicted to these devices !

She was 17 and graduated 1.5 years early from high school. She was in her freshman year at the University of Nebraska. This photo is when she volunteered at a neglected or wounded animal sanctuary. She love all animals and was studying to be a veterinarian. This deer was hit be a car and Alley nursed him back to health.

Funfer2, We share your grief and hope you can take solace in the fact your niece is now walking in the presense of GOD and thus can never be hurt again. My prayers are with you. tin-man

Very sorry for your loss. Something to keep in mind, on your plans, don't include texting. This is becoming more and more prevalent and cause of accidents. If they don't have it, it can't be used.

Ron61 08-09-2010 12:16 PM

:(

Kevin,

I am so sorry to hear about that. Words won't help but know that you and all the family will be in my prayers.

Ron

Very sorry to hear this. I am sending you a PM question as I don't know if you want to discuss on the open board.

...and let's also pray for the family of the vehicle that broadsided your niece. They also are suffering a lifetime of guilt.

twobjshelbys 08-09-2010 08:25 PM

Very sorry for your loss.

You're from Eagle, NE? Wasn't there a big race there last weekend? Some friends from here went to that area for a race and I thought they said Eagle.

Although it was Alley's fault, guilt is a powerful emotion and will be with them for their lifetime. We God does not blame them, neither will I. We also pray for them & their family's.

Thank you.

Yes we are. The track is indeed Eagle Raceway and race 360 winged sprints. The track is only two miles from my house. They always seen to have big races, the "Nebraska Cup" will be here soon. Last week was another "Family Night", for $5 per head. It's always a over the top packed house. Great track, great facility. Fastest 1/3 mile in the world.

I agree, but there's a way to get them anyway. I don't know what the answer is, but something has to be done, more than just a ticket. We just can't keeping loosing loved ones, because of such frivolous toys.

Wayne Maybury 08-10-2010 11:55 AM

Kevin, I am very sorry to hear about your loss. Many people today (especially those in their teens) can't seem to do a thing without the cell phone in their hands.

Regards,
Wayne
