Wow! How cool!

Back in the mid 80's I was all the way up in Ukiah and saw a light rising in the sky. It then disappeared, and then a clear "bubble" formed in it's placed (I could see a cloud sphere from the air compression).

It was a missle launched from VAFB and blown up over the ocean. Still remember it vividly.

I watched the launch from my front yard in Santa Barbara. I've always wanted to get up to Vandenburg to see a launch. This rocket was the biggest one of it's kind ever launched here, and it must have been great to see... and feel. Your pics are AMAZING, and it looks like you were very close. Were you at the public viewing area, or did you get closer, and how?

The photos were given to me from one of the guys at ULA. We have supplied most of the cranes used to lift the rockets at VFAB and CCAS. I understand there is a Utube video on the lift.

Good stuff...I remember a few years back when you posted pics of the cranes going in.

One of my clients farms on the base...seen some great launches over the years, but that basturd is big!

Lompoc and the general area is great cruising country...we ought to go in for a "crane inspection" with a couple of dozen Cobras.
