Star Spangled Banner- WTF?

PPL that don't know how to sing the Star Spangled Banner should be taken out and shot. Sad that America's Biggest Game should have singers that don't know how to sing the F-ing song.
Maybe they should do without next year.
Better than to F-up the song.

Glad the Packers won.

I love the passion, let us know how you really feel, death by firing squad.

IndyCobra 02-07-2011 09:33 AM

Since the Government is so keen these days in passing laws to tell us how to live, I'd like to see them take this topic up. If you sing the Star Spangled Banner in public, you have to keep proper time, sing it in the proper key, and if you enhance the score with riffs up and down the scale to prove your singing "prowess", you are pulled off the stage and immediately........well, I'd leave it to the attending public to dole out the proper punishment.

At least her top didn't flop...;)

Wayne Maybury 02-07-2011 02:31 PM

Even the morning paper up here in Montreal had an article about the terrible performance saying that she used about 900 extra notes and also totally screwed up the words. Many pop singers can't really sing anyway, at least not without all kinds of electronic filters and other gizmos.

Actually Christina is one of he best pop singers around with great pipes, and I also think she's pretty damm good looking.:)

With that said, why the heck do these stupid entertainers have to try to show off how good the think they are, in lieu of just showing some love and respect for the song....... Sing it the proper way and with class.

Too bad somebody like Faith Hill or maybe Elvis didn't sing the song. Even though Elvis is no longer with us, I'm sure they could have found an old recording.

I agree..shoot her dumb ass! :D

Sharroll Celby 02-07-2011 03:20 PM

I agree...she CAN sing, and IS very cute. BUT...

The halftime show producer should have the singer sign a contract stating that the singer will be docked $1000 for every extra syllable that comes out of their mouth during the National Anthem (and "God Bless America", as well!)

392cobra 02-07-2011 05:17 PM

Some how I think knowing the correct words to our National Anthem is a lot more important than how many notes you can hit per word.

I mean the words were being scrolled while she sang, in the stadium for her,in english.

A wardrobe malfunction would have helped though.

Silverback51 02-07-2011 05:45 PM

Maybe I'm getting soft in my old age.

There is not a single person alive that has not screwed up at work at one time or another. That is all she did. Unfortunately for her, it was on TV and a major event.

Also she is not the first to have done this, nor will she be the last.

And no, I'm not a fan of hers, so that is not why I'm defending her.

ROBERT GWALTNEY 02-07-2011 06:08 PM

Ok she messed up, but who the hell doesnt. at least she sang thru it and I would bet the farm that most Americans could not sing half the National Athem without screwing it up. Try it your self and see how far you get

fordracing65 02-07-2011 06:12 PM

Christina Agulara sucks, im sure thats not the only thing she sucks at.

ROBERT GWALTNEY 02-07-2011 06:25 PM

A wardrobe malfunction would of been nice

Guess you guy are missing my point. I don't care that she said the wrong words. Mistakes can be made. What I care about is that most of the people that sing the song with all the ups and downs and other crap that they added.
Sing the damn song as it was written, PERIOD. If you don't get it you never will.
Rant over.

elmariachi 02-07-2011 09:05 PM

Play THIS CLIP on the biggest screen you can find with the volume way up.

Christina A sucks. No excuses whatsoever for screwing that up.

Skully 02-07-2011 10:02 PM

She sings for a living, why not learn the words. The local news channel, they said that they didn't notice any mistakes with Anthem , maybe we should all relearn the National Anthem, and what it means , still the greatest country on Earth, Period.

Okay, on that I can agree with you. It's about the song, and what it stands for, not what the singer can do with it.

Ron61 02-08-2011 06:03 AM

I thought that she was terrible but not a lot worse than some of the so called stars that NASCAR has sing it. The half time snow was so bad that I changed channels after the first minute and then forgot to go back to watch the last half of the game.

Ron

IndyCobra 02-08-2011 10:39 AM

Okay so people screw up at work. That doesn't really apply here. She had one job to do. She's a professional singer. The WORDS are on the damn stadium screen.

The problem is that she is so into HERSELF while she's singing that she got lost. She's more interested in showing off rather than showing the song the respect it deserves.

Now a couple of years ago, Faith Hill sang the anthem the way it was intended. Short, sweet, on tune, AND NO EXTRA NOTES!

But isn't Faith Hill Canadian? And do you know the words to "O Canada?"

I would if I frikken lived there AND I was asked to sing it at Game 7 of the Stanley Cup finals between Montreal and Edmonton AND it was the only thing I had to do, AND if I was a professional singer!

Actually I used to know the words when I went to a lot of hockey games but that was back when Wayne Gretsky played for the Indianapolis Racers in the WHA!
