Default Cobra guy in for a kidney transplant

Well, I've held off as long as I can. Time for that kidney transplant that's been hanging over my head for so long---yeah, like 14 years...

No, my Cobra is NOT FOR SALE!

For those of you that know me or are interested:

http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/douglasking

I don't have a date set yet, but it is likely to be in the next six weeks or so (I've been moved into the "express lane").

This, after spending the last two years getting my son through Leukemia treatment.

I'm optimistic about the outcome. Look forward Spring and Summer in my ERA.

Thanks, guys. Don't have a date yet for the surgery, but I'll post it on the CB site.

Doug,

You're darn right it's not for sale !!

Sounds like it's time to have the surgery and get to the point where you are feeling better. I wish you all the best for the surgery and a very speedy recovery

I look forward to driving with you and our fellow BACC brothers this summer. ERA 2136 should be on the road just about the time you are back up to full speed … and I'll be ready to follow you and 2108 throughout the back roads of the Santa Cruz mountains

Doug, my father always said "The sun does not shine on the same hog's a$$ all the time." Your day is coming, just hang in there. Here's wishing you a speedy surgery and recovery.

Doug,

I know you're going to do great and feel 100% better!! Keep us posted on the date of your surgery and let us know if there's anything your fellow BACC members can do to support you.

Maybe we can make it out to the Capitola coffee get together before you have the surgery.

Just saw your post Doug. I can't make it to Capitola tomorrow morning. I'll catch up with you soon. I'm going to hit the Brock event at the Ranch next week, so maybe a couple of weeks.

Actually, I'm thinking of hitting the Mustang Ranch / Brock event myself. Right now it kinda depends on my freakin' leg---for some unknown reason my left knee has frozen up and is painful to bend. That's my clutch leg, dammit! Just another wierd, random thing somehow related to my kidney digression. W-T-F?!

Anyhow, assuming this gets better or I find a find a short section of rope to bite down on, I plan on being there. So, maybe I'll catch you there.

My knee! It works! I can walk! (and push in a clutch pedal!)

Amazing what 40 mg of Prednisone and a couple of Vicodin can do for you!

The punch line: I'm "in" for the Pete Brock / Mustang Ranch event.

Tim: This would be a good time to go for a quick ride to get a feel for the 3.54 with the TKO-600/0.82.

I hope Pete won't mind signing the Daytona section of my Cobra book.

Doug,
my lady donated one to her young sister. The sister was on Facebook the same night after the op until 2am! She recovered dramatically quick but had to stay in hospital for 2 weeks because of the weakened immune system.

My gf recovered much slower, yet was released from hospital 4 days after the op.

Good luck!

Dominik: Hat's off to your lady! It's quite an ordeal to give a kidney, and takes an exceptional person to step up---even when it means saving a life. Sounds like you caught a good one.
