Default HELP....Interested in buying a 2005/2006 Ford GT

Gentlemen,

I have had my eye on the 2005/2006 Ford GT’s for quite some time. Needless to say I would like to gain some knowledge of the car before I dive in, so to speak. Can anyone offer any good information on the car? ie: problems, recalls, what bad traits to look for, etc; etc. and one that might be available for sale. I've seen about five to six available on the net mainly from dealers so if you know one available that would help as well. I would appreciate any assistance. Thanks......

I don't know the entire story but some of the earlier 3 valve engine had some serious issuses with the spark plugs. Seems there were not enough threads and they would pull the threads when removing the plugs, or the thrads would fracture and the spark plugs would get spit out of the heads. Seems there was only 3 or 4 threads securing the plugs. There is a good fix; but the OEM design seemed lacking. The plugs were real pricey too.

I owned a GT500 which has the same heads as does the GT motor ..... those Im pretty sure where a 4 valve design.

I havent heard anything about plug issues .... There are a couple of really big companys that specialize in the GT .... HP perf i think is the name of one company

Its a ford your bound to have problems, but the the gt, the 5.4 supercharged engine is unbeatable, they had problems with leaky shocks and axle bolts break but that was after 10000 miles in most cases, basically the dohc motor pulls like a freight train, your lucky to have the opportunity for that car.
