" What NASCAR fans can expect in 2012 "

Note the comments regarding the 2013 cars and yellow flags for debris on the track. No mention that Danica has a starting position for the Daytona 500 and 4 other races using another Team's points from last year, she is not entering this years Indy 500

Breaking Down NASCAR's 2012 Changes

It must be "Nothing?"

Cliff notes:
Electronic fuel injection (EFI) that will officially be introduced on cars at Daytona.
The tandem draft will be modified for Daytona.
Danica.

And: Pemberton and Darby were adamant that the yellow flag doesn't fly unless debris is on the track.

Maybe.

But I have no interest in basketball, baseball, or soccer. Who watches guys run around in their shorts?

What else is interesting since Ford finished 1,2,3 at the 50th 24 Hours of Daytona?

I'm not a fan of Stick and Ball sports either.

I really enjoy motorsports, but NASCAR lost me when all the cars started to look the same.

Actually I prefer F1 racing. And last year was pretty good racing. More passing in the races last year than in the past 5 years all together.

95CobraR 02-11-2012 08:24 AM

I prefer Grand-Am (above and here):

The Grand-Am Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge and vintage racing (here):

I cant wait to see the efi engines roar to life.

hot and cold starts have been tested, but have not seen any tests/comments regarding starting when out of fuel, will miss the flames from the exhaust.

but NASCAR lost me when all the cars started to look the same.

2013 is the return of each manufacturers' unique look. Ford has announced theirs, will be interesting to see all 4 manufacturers side by side, will there really be a difference?

And when all the drivers started looking the same

except for Danica, guaranteed starting in 5 races, including the 500, from another Team's 2011 points, standard practice to use another Team's points. She was mentioned by the NASCAR President/CEO in a FOX interview

Danica should be a speed bump in the track.

I'll say.

Getting rid of some of the yellows will be an improvement but I am not holding me breath. As far as EFI goes, NASCAR is handling that the same way they do everything else. The EFI units will be totally controlled by NASCAR, not by the teams. These are cookie-cutter race cars that are virtually identical with different paint jobs.

Ron61 02-21-2012 11:05 AM

Wayne,

Give Helton time and they will have Governors on the cars to make sure they all can only go the same top speed. I just don't see anything about them so far that makes it racing to me. I wish they would stop showing all of the NASCAR races and start showing more of the road races.

Ron ;)

Ron,
That brings forth a lot of stuff. ;) We can watch the 24 Hours of Daytona.

Yet, AMLS will not televise the 12 Hours of Sebring (it's only available on the internet). Who wants to watch a 12 hour race on his computer?

What other road racing series is worth watching?

I'll be watching the Daytona 500. It can be fun; like last year when a rookie in a Woods Brothers Ford #21 did something very remarkable:

Just saying.

Personally I think it would be better racing if they brought in 43 taxi's from New York and turned them loose.
