V8 Healey knowledge/experts
Hi:
Recently moved to sunny Arizona from NYC (that was no place for a car geek!) and I'm wringing my hands in anticipation of what hot rod, sports car or jalopy highway I take myself and my wallet down. Of course, a Cobra is the first thing that popped in my head, as I can teach my older son how to use tools, basic mechanical skills and wiring. Plenty of kits out there for that.
But I've always loved early Austin Healeys (100s with the 4-cyl engines) as Anglo hybrids with American V8 power. Lots of 'em were built in the 50s by guys with more skill that myself, but I'm wondering if any of the Cobra fraternity here know of shops or individuals who've done one or more and could steer me towards experts.
This is the sort of thing I have in mind (SBF, T5, revised suspension and reinforced chassis - I grew up as a road racer - period-correct wheels, though not necessarily wires):
Austin Healey 1004 V8 custom 3D Model (.max, .fbx, .3ds, .obj) by VisuArt3D
Any insight would be appreciated.
Thanks!
