Lung Transplant evaluation next week
Hi Everyone,
Well, it's hard to believe that it has been 14 years since I was diagnosed with a rare genetic lung disease. I'm very lucky that the medication slowed the progression of the disease for all of these years, but it is now time for me to look into getting a lung transplant.
Next week I will be in St Louis for a week of medical testing to see if I meet the criteria to be transplanted.
No matter what the outcome is I won't have any regrets. For the past 14 years I've been burning the candle at both ends ( and in the middle ).
I was fortunate enough to have worked for the foundation that does research into my condition and I was able to work directly with other patients with the same condition. My wife and I have taken some great vacations and last year we were able to buy the small farm that we have always dreamed of owning.
I have also been lucky enough to do most of the things that were on my "Bucket List". Building a Cobra was at the top of the list. Building and driving the car has been great fun and I have also met some great people along the way.
Anyway, all things considered I'm optimistic that I will be driving around in my Cobra and enjoying life.
Cheers,
Roger
