Midwest Classic Insurance
Looking for any feedback on Midwest Classic Insurance. My current insurance policy is coming due soon and the prices have gone up quite a bit over the last few years. Found Midwest on a Cobra site, their quote is 1/2 of my current policy with Grundy. Hagerty was about the same as my current policy.

I went with them 2 years ago when I bought my Backdraft. No claim history to report.... but Hagerty was quoting about $900, and Midwest is $515.

I have Midwest as well, no claims but I have had to contact them a couple of times for other matters and they have been very responsive and easy to work with.

I've had policies through Midwest for four years and recommend Robbin very highly. He specializes in classic/collector car insurance, and will find you the policy you want. I have had a single claim and it was not a problem.

Robbin at Midwest was able to bind coverage ASAP with minimal interaction. He was available early and late and easy to work with.

You really have to shop around every couple of years. I started with Classic and had a great deal, then after 4 years I found another policy for about half the price. I'm paying about $300/year now.... You just have to shop around every few years. Loyalty costs a lot!

Just a follow-up on Midwest and Robin. He saved me about 50 percent, plus I can now drive to work occasionally. He was great to work with, I would definitely recommend. Hopefully I will never need to file a claim.

I moved my policy over to him a few years ago. Super easy transition and great to deal with.

Not too long ago, there was an insurance related thread where some debate was taking place about what you are and are not allowed to do with a classic car policy. I couldn't find that thread just now but finally got around to calling Robbin at Midwest Classics (my insurer) to get a couple of clarifications and thought I'd post them here. My policy is limited to 6,000 miles per year and I do not have the drive-to-work option, so the policy states the car is to be used for pleasure drives, car shows, parades, etc. It also states that it can't be used as back-up transportation or for running errands. The debate I read somewhere was about going to restaurants with a Cobra covered under one of these policies. So, Robbin clarified the following:
It is fine to take a pleasure drive and stop at a restaurant. It is also fine to take a longer pleasure drive that involves an overnight stay in a hotel or with friends/relatives. As for running errands, although that is prohibited, it is ok to stop somewhere to pick something up while on a pleasure drive. So, if you got in an accident with a bag of stuff from a store in the trunk - no big deal. However, if you had bags of stuff from multiple places, that might call the errand exclusion into question.
Disclaimer: Not all policies are alike so if you have questions about your own policy you should call your agent. My purpose was to pass along some information regarding the specific type of policy I have from Midwest Classics since there was some debate and uncertainty about allowed uses. I asked Robbin if I could share the information he gave me and he said that was fine and welcomes anyone to call if there are additional questions.
