Thanks for letting us know Jamo. I can access nearly everything this morning but the All cobra Talk Forum.

...and yet I just went there. With the ongoing work going on, cleaning out your cookies may resolve most such issues individual users are having.

Yep,

What I tell the folks on the sister site (Clubhotrod.com) is:

Clean out browser cache
Clean out system cache
Wipe out cookies for the site
Log out of the site
Log back in

Sometimes, depending on the browser they are using, or the software package on their system, I suggest a reboot of their computer as well.

Additional items that sometimes need to be addressed has to do with updates and patches for their systems.

So Bill, you really think my cookies have something to do with this?

Warning: mysql_query() [function.mysql-query]: Unable to save result set in [path]\includes\class_core.php on line 408
Database Error Database error
The Club Cobra database has encountered a problem.

I suspect that's a server problem.

Unless, of course, the server is putting artificial ingredients in my cookies. :JEKYLHYDE

Are you using something bookmarked on your system, or are you clicking on a particular link on this site? And, is that happening today?

As for cookies, only you know what you are putting in your batter

Click HERE it is a direct link to "All Talk Cobra" (some of you may have an older cached version of the site with some links that were broken at the time)

Then click HERE it is a direct link to the test thread I just posted on All Talk Cobra.

Hope some of you find this helpful.

Note what Bill and I are saying...if you are using your My Favorite cache to come here, it will be using old information...same for the cookies.

The site and All Cobra Talk are working...very evident from bill's thread on All cobra Talk where folks have weighed from several platforms, etc.

It also would help if you would tell us whether or not cleaning out your cookies and logging out/in helped or not. We won't tell anybody.

twobjshelbys 05-10-2015 07:15 PM

At about 4:00 I had a 2 minute pause and error, then a retry got through.

Jamo 05-10-2015 07:18 PM

cool...thx!

twobjshelbys 05-10-2015 07:43 PM

Just now, another long timeout and error, then retried and it took about 15 seconds to reload. This morning response was "crisp" like other forums, i.e., <1 second response times.

Jamo 05-10-2015 07:46 PM

Yup...inconsistent for me too...passing it all on.

twobjshelbys 05-10-2015 09:33 PM

Got to hurry because...

Two more "data base error" incidents as I tried to reply to this topic. 2-3 minutes diddling with the little swirly thing.

The advice that this is "caused by cookies and stale caches" is something I'd expect from the 6th graders at Microsoft. This is much deeper than that.

Edit: This reply took twice to post successfully with many minutes between the errors.

twobjshelbys 05-10-2015 09:35 PM

And believe it or not the edit to say that went up immediately.

Edit: As did this reply

Edit2: And then the edit took over a minute as did the bringing up of the edit window for this reply. Stopping now :)

Jamo 05-10-2015 10:57 PM

The advice came from me...as the moderator for thousands of folks that aren't computer experts, like you, to try to weed out some of the most common issues and based on the fact that most folks aren't having problems, or not these problems. So, I am the "6th grader," not anyone from Microsoft. My doctorate doesn't cover computers.

Aside from the commentary, thanks for the feedback.

Ron61 05-11-2015 03:27 AM

Many people are having problems and some different than others. I too, worked in computers most of my life doing R&D with the old Bell Labs and this is not something that is going to be easy to find as it is just to intermittent. I can't access the All Cobra Talk Forum now as all I get is an error that tells me: "thread" table has got corrupted.". I can access all the rest of the forums, though I still get the normal time outs and other problems, but just complaining about it unless people have specific things to help Brent out isn't helping. So I just don't say anything unless I have something specific that I think may help. Now this may take 30 seconds to post or it may time out and not post.

I look at posts here and on all forums that support it by using the "new posts" (unread content) button, so I don't see them in the (sub)forum index. I haven't been paying attention to which subforums might have issues. If the tables for one subforum have corrupted tables then it might depend on how you have to traverse the tables to get there that would expose it more for some than others.

In the days of big databases there were utilities that could walk all the links and look for inconsistencies. I don't know about the database engine used for forums but I'd be surprised if there wasn't some kind of integrity tool.

Well I did not think that cookies would have anything to do with database errors, but I guess it could not hurt to try getting rid of them. I use Chrome to access this site from both my PC and my iPhone. On my PC I just cleared out the following from Chrome: Browsing Data, Download History, Cookies and other site plug-in data, Cached images and files, Hosted app data. I did that to obliterate that data "from the beginning of time".

I closed my browser and restarted it. It required me to log back in. I still see the database errors when I click on "New Posts" as found on this site (I do not use any favorites to get here).

One of the reasons I doubted that cookies had anything to do with this, was that the database errors had disappeared for slightly less than a week and I did not do anything to clear out browser data prior to the period when things worked for a while.

1ntCobra 05-11-2015 05:05 PM

Here is another thing to ponder. I just logged into this site with Firefox. I don't know if I have ever logged into this site with Firefox before with this computer. I clicked on "New Posts" and got the database error.

1ntCobra 05-11-2015 05:12 PM

I just cleared all of my browser data on Chrome on my iPhone. I logged back in. I clicked on "New Posts". I get the database error.
