That rump has been pounded for so long and often that Kobie (sp?) Beef has nothing on it.

Fred,

Are you getting any rain or wind from Ike yet? How about the rest of you. Hope all of you are far enough out of its path to not have any serious problems. Joe, how did the trees do?

Ron

Well so far we are getting nothing. The road is not even completely wet. It sprinkled about 30 seconds and stopped.

I hope all our CC buddies in the Houston Galveston area are OK.

Joe Wicked 09-13-2008 08:42 AM

Not here yet Ron. Just the first band of sprinkles. We expect the rain to really start within an hour, and the heavy storms will hit early tonight, through the morning.

Ron61 09-13-2008 08:44 AM

Steve,

That is good news. I did see on the last pictures that they had on the news that the Dallas area could get some substantial rain and moderate wind, but they weren't sure of that and if so just when it would arrive. They are still trying to get some kind of assessment of the damage in the Houston and Galveston areas and I saw that Louisiana had flooding also.

I also saw pictures of some of the gas stations and the way they are rasing prices. One station raised theirs 60¢ a gallon while some guy who was next in line watched and he was not happy. I knew the prices would go up but don't buy their reason. They claimed they had to raise them so much so soon because their next loads of gas would be going up. But since they have no idea of what the next loads fo gas will cost, how can they just keep raising them every 20 minutes?

Ron

hey,littlecobra 09-13-2008 08:53 AM

it doesn't appear that it's going to be as bad in Dallas as originally thought. We can always use the rain, and as i look outside, the wind is really picking up. Hasn't started raining yet, but it has sprinkled some today.
Leslie's bday party is today, and good thing it is inside at a 'party place'! glad we aren't having it at home. She wanted a swim party at home with crafts and stuff but i talked her out of it. yea!
sometimes at home, sometimes off site.
my baby is turning 9!! wow!!!

the boys won their football game last night.
hoping for an extra good year!!! :)

Kristen,

Nice to see that you are back. Wow, 9 already. Hope she has a great birthday and the weather doesn't mess it up.

Getting some pretty good wind gusts today. I had forgotten that Haverty's is delivering my bookshelves today. They should be here shortly. I just moved the cars out of the way, so they can get in the driveway easily. I hope they are able to get done quickly today as I am sure the gusts of wind are making it a pain to drive the truck.

Ron61 09-13-2008 09:44 AM

Joe,

I was just watching some more of the news and so far it seems there is a little less damage where they have gotten into than they expected, but it is still a mess. One person they interviewed who I think was with the electric company said they hoped to be able to start getting power back to some of the less damaged places soon.

Ron

4RE KLR 09-13-2008 11:07 AM

It is still a little windy but nothing more than you would expect from a spring wind blowing. It is actually nice outside.

Yes, we could sure use some rain.
But not six feet of it

Ron61 09-13-2008 11:26 AM

Steve,

If the reports that I am seeing are correct you and Joe should both be ok. Maybe some hard rain later on, but they seem more concerned about possible tornadoes in your area on the news cast I am watching.

Ron :)

Joe Wicked 09-13-2008 12:40 PM

Yea Ron, that sums it up well. The preps that I did for the next 24 hours is more for in case there are tornadoes that knock out power. That is the threat we have in this area. We have had much stronger thunderstorms than what we are likely to get today, but it still can get bad. I have a fence post that got damaged in the last big storm, so I may have to get with my neighbor and replace it after this weekend.

392cobra 09-13-2008 05:27 PM

It's pulled up to the Red River now.Heading to Arkansas then up to visit Tru.
Arkansas hasn't any rain for 24 hrs.,so they're due.

Suppose to be low 80's and sunny tomorrow.:)

Joe Wicked 09-13-2008 05:46 PM

Yep getting lighter out and storms are starting to clear out.

wtm442 09-13-2008 07:52 PM

Hey Fred, you still off the cigarettes? How's the weight gain?

Ron61 09-14-2008 03:51 AM

:)

Warren,

He must still be off of them. Why do you think he picked up BB? To remind him that if he gains that much he will have to start working out or trade the motorcycle for a small farm truck. Now the Ho Sisters on the other hand keep fit and trim as they work out on a regular basis.

Ron

trularin 09-14-2008 07:06 AM

To all of my friends in the path of this storm, I hope you weather it without incident.

We are on our third day of rain. Haven't had three or more days of nonstop rain in years.

Can't drive in the pasture, the tires sink in a little and the top is slick.

Ron61 09-14-2008 07:15 AM

:)

Tru,

Nice to see that you are ok. From the weather reports it looks as if a lot of places are in for more rain than they have had for sometime. Except us of course. Just more heat and high fire danger here.

My cousin in the Ozarks left Saturday morning for a vacation in Oklahoma, New Mexico, and anywhere else they decide to go. He said they have already had more rain there than they normally have in two years and according to this latest report they can expect from 3 to 6 inches from the storm as it goes through that area. Fred is going to have to ride in the rain for his motorcycle trip up there it looks like.

Ron:)
