Tough day today ... my muscles are sore ... too much of that 4 letter word yesterday. But at least the yard is in tip-top shape. Spinach - yuck Liver - gross. Mom always cooked it to death. Me and my sisters all hated it and found ways to smuggle it off our plates without eating it and without getting caught. Cauliflower - that should only be used as a garnish ... look at it and throw it away. I broke my 10 year old Drill Doctor about a year ago, so I finally called and asked for a replacement part. Yes, they did and it was $25 but I could get a new Drill Dr for only $40. Sweet deal, since the old one really needed a new wheel too. Just got it and sharpened a ton of drill bits yesterday. I have 24 quarter inch drill bits! Amazing. Maybe another 2 or 3 hours to sharpen all of my dull drills. |

Frenchy ran home after turtle slapped her with his hind leg. But good old Gorilla glue fixed everything.

Looks like a bad break from the picture. Hope everything stays together ok. Here are the new pennies that they are going to issue. Ron |

Turtle and his woodie are fine. He is currently sitting down cellar all nice and pretty in his natural beauty. Varnish will protect him from all frog attacks. Of course, if his master stopped taking so many rides, he might be out in the garden.
Took these a couple of days ago. Inside an old naval air base in Weymouth. Cannot get out on the runways. But they do have a couple of nice long roads. And there are tons of good places to take pictures. I need to get down there around noontime and not 5 PM to get better light. http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...265_Small_.JPG http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...234_Small_.JPG OK, lunch is over. Time to go back to work. |
Warren,
Nice pictures. I am surprised they let anyone onto any part of an old air base. They need to keep you off the old runways. Ron :p |
Nice pictures Warren.
Guys, is it me or are a lot of these threads uptight and lacking in any sort of sense of humor? :D :D |

You mean the politically based threads? I don't even read most of them. And the threads cannot be uptight, but the posters sure can! |

The base is huge and is comprised of land from 3 towns. The Navy sold it back to the towns for a dollar about 8 years ago. It is "slowly" being developed for mixed use ... houses, business, golf course, parks, bio-tech business center and maybe a film studio. Lots of squabbling between the 3 towns, but things are progressing. I wish I could get on the runways. Some are 2 miles long. All kinds of fencing to keep everyone off the runways. Here is a pic I took last year inside the base. http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...m/DSCN2381.JPG |
I wrote a post a couple of times and noticed I was being nasty.
Had to stop and reconsider. :D |
You are forgiven my son. Three Hail Mary's and kiss my ring and you will be forgiven. Of course, if you send me $10,000 I can insure that you will make it into heaven.
Just had some vanilla yogurt and I filled the cup with a lot of fresh native blueberries. Ummmmmmm goooood. I'm amazed that I really like the yogurt. Tried some about a couple of months ago. Now I'm hooked. Dannon Light and Fit. Try it, you'll like it. |
Warren,
That is a nice picture. To bad you can't get the old plane to put in your yard with Turtle. Tru, No one is uptight. Just a few mis-worded posts at times and a misunderstanding about how serious a couple of things are. All of us except Warren and Fred have off days. They are off all the time. Ron :JEKYLHYDE |
This should go in the joke thread but since it has Warren's favorite Senator in it I thought I would post it in this thread. It is an oldie but appropriate for todays political world. Once upon a time, on a farm in Virginia , there was a little red hen who scratched about the barnyard until she uncovered quite a few grains of wheat. She called all of her Democrat neighbors together and said, 'If we plant this wheat, we shall have bread to eat. Who will help me plant it?' 'Not I,' said the cow. 'Not I,' said the duck. 'Not I,' said the pig. 'Not I,' said the goose. 'Then I will do it by myself,' said the little red hen, and so she did. The wheat grew very tall and ripened into golden grain. 'Who will help me reap my wheat?' asked the little red hen. 'Not I,' said the duck. 'Out of my classification,' said the pig. 'I 'd lose my seniority,' said the cow. 'I'd lose my unemployment compensation,' said the goose. 'Then I will do it by myself,' said the little red hen, and so she did. At last it came time to bake the bread. 'Who will help me bake the bread?' asked the little red hen. 'That would be overtime for me,' said the cow. 'I'd lose my welfare benefits,' said the duck. 'I'm a dropout and never learned how,' said the pig. 'If I'm to be the only helper, that's discrimination,' said the goose. 'Then I will do it by myself,' said the little red hen. She baked five loaves and held them up for all of her neighbors to see. They wanted some and, in fact, demanded a share. But the little red hen said, 'No, I shall eat all five loaves.' 'Excess profits!' cried the cow. (Nancy Pelosi) 'Capitalist leech!' screamed the duck. (Barbara Boxer) 'I demand equal rights!' yelled the goose. (Jesse Jackson) The pig just grunted in disdain. (Ted Kennedy) And they all painted 'Unfair!' picket signs and marched around and around the little red hen, shouting obscenities. Then the Farmer Obama came. He said to the little red hen, 'You must not be so greedy.' 'But I earned the bread,' said the little red hen. 'Exactly,' said Barack the farmer. 'That is what makes our free enterprise system so wonderful. Anyone in the barnyard can earn as much as he wants. But under our modern government regulations, the productive workers must divide the fruits of their labor with those who are lazy and idle.' And they all lived happily ever after, including the little red hen, who smiled and clucked, 'I am grateful, for now I truly understand.' But her neighbors became quite disappointed in her. She never again baked bread because she joined the 'party' and got her bread free. And all the Democrats smiled. 'Fairness' had been established. Individual initiative had died, but nobody noticed; perhaps no one cared...so long as there was free bread that 'the rich' were paying for. EPILOGUE Bill Clinton is getting $12 million for his memoirs. Hillary got $8 million for hers. That's $20 million for the memories from two people, who for eight years, repeatedly testified, under oath, that they couldn't remember anything. IS THIS A GREAT BARNYARD OR WHAT? And Obama is coming. Ron :3DSMILE: |
wow ron......not bad...i think it should start out as confusious say:....:D
Fred |
Ron - good post.
Read an article in local newspaper last night about the ex-FBI agent John Connolly trial in Miami. Most all of the Winter Hill (S. Boston) mob involved in the killing had at one time or another lived in my hometown. But I was amazed to read that Whitey Bulger (on the FBI's 10 Most Wanted list since 1999 and has a $2 million bounty on his head) lived with his girlfriend in a house about six streets away from me! Less than 1/2 mile away! They gave the address in the article, so I looked it up on the local assessor database. The house is still owned by Whitey's girlfriend, Catherine Greig, who is rumored to be on the lamb with Whitey. Maybe I'll go over there in my Cobra and knock on the door and see who lives there now. Maybe Whitey is hiding in the cellar. I could really use the $2 million with the current stock market in a small mess this year. http://www.patriotledger.com/news/co...ob-connections |
