"I must say as to what I have seen of Texas it is the garden spot of the world." -- Davy Crockett, January 9, 1836

He must not have seen much of the world.

I can say that I haven't lived anywhere better.

Ron61 01-12-2015 01:46 AM

I wish that I could say that about some of the places I have lived.

Ron

Joe Wicked 01-12-2015 10:31 AM

There are enough that I could not say that about. I have absolutely no desire to move from Texas.

Joe,Davy and I all agree with one another.:)

I have had the chance to travel all over the world. Did it for many years.

There is absolutely no place I had rather be than in Texas.

Fred & Joe,

Having did a lot of traveling in my past I would rather live in this country than any of the ones that I was in. I have been in Texas a few times and I would like the idea of being able to live close enough to a town to get whatever I need yet have a lot of privacy and land, if I could afford it. I would like to own enough to put in my own private road race track. Also the climate in Texas, while not perfect is better than in many places I have lived or been. That being said, I like the biggest state so Alaska is high on the list.

Fred,

This is mainly for you as I figure that Joe saw it on our site.

Nice. I haven't been on anywhere much lately so I missed it.

Ron61 01-16-2015 04:33 AM

Thanks Joe, that was the first nice day we have had in a long time. It is raining lightly right now. I had planned to take the 69 out for a drive and use the new camera to make a video of that. But they are showing spotty rain here for the next several days.

I did get a chance to try out my mount for the camera that I made using two different mounts.

Joe Wicked 01-16-2015 12:14 PM

It had been rainy here for about a week, and for the last 2 days, it has been nice out. I just need the mud hole I call a driveway to dry out for a change. Getting hard to tell that my truck is blue. We need the rain bad, but it would be nice to have it more than in just 1 month throughout the year.

Ron61 01-16-2015 12:34 PM

We need rain and a lot of it. This drizzle that we are getting does no good at all and just makes it miserable and wet to be outside.

I have meant to ask you or Fred this for some time. Didn't Texas build a freeway that has no speed limit some time ago?

Ron

Joe Wicked 01-16-2015 12:45 PM

Not no speed limit bit the speed limit was raised to 85 on some freeways out in the middle of nowhere. Now it should only take a week to drive across Texas.

Ron61 01-16-2015 12:51 PM

Thanks Joe,

A friend of mine was asking about it and I thought they built a high speed road somewhere but I wasn't sure if it was no speed limit or had a higher limit than most roads do.

Ron

Joe Wicked 01-16-2015 12:53 PM

There was talk of a toll road with no exits from Dallas to Houston and it was suggested no speed limit but that died out before it ever really go started.

Ron61 01-16-2015 12:58 PM

To bad. That would have made traveling between them much faster.

Ron

Joe Wicked 01-16-2015 01:03 PM

As it is if you are doing 80 on I45 you are likely to be run over.

Ron61 01-17-2015 02:12 AM

Joe,

That sounds like the Bay Area. When Ernie moved back here from Hawaii I went to Hayward with him to bring his Cobra and Miata up here. I came up by the
Oakland route and it was 10 lanes of bumper to bumper and doing 85/90 all the way. And you had better be in the lanes you needed to be in because there was no changing lanes.

Ron

Joe Wicked 01-17-2015 06:50 AM

That's how San Diego was when I lived there.

Ron61 01-17-2015 06:56 AM

Joe,

I didn't like San Diego when I had to go down there to work on something but I think the one place in this state that I hated the worst was San Jose. I finally just refused to go there if they had a problem.

I just noticed that this thread has passed 1 million posts. And unrelated, it is raining again here today but not enough to do any good. Just enough to get you wet if you stay out in it for a few minutes. Lousy weather. I want to drive the cars but this is getting old.

Ron :(
