Jay,
You are one of my best friends. (read this line twice OK)

It has been said it takes a lot of courage to stand up to your enemies, and even more to stand up to your friends.

Well here goes...

You stated "NOT ONE" of the people you have done appraisals for has donated a dime"

Not true my friend. You ask for $20.00 Sears gift cards. I got our family together, even my KIDS, Jay and we sent a $50.00 Sears card. We did not put our names on any part of it. To us, that is not what is important.

I do support your (this) cause. I have sent out over 120 emails in support of this cause. So Please next time you chastise your friends make sure you have all the facts.

I love you to death my friend and I will kill or die for you, and you know it. Please don't make this so personal that it affects everyone in a negative manner. I think (honestly believe) we all are concerned about our troops and their well being. We all (I think) support these type of efforts. However this is not the only effort that is on going.

Not many people other than you know the sacrifices my family has gone through over the last few years and we still can see it to give a little.

I believe that you catch more flies with sugar. Maybe a bit different approach is in order. I know you are frustrated that every single person on this whole site has not sent money to this very worthy cause, I understand. However, from a outside perspective, hell we all can't even agree on the time of day.

You are a good person, and yes you have done a HELL OF A LOT OF GOOD for many people. Just don't try to get to the finish line so fast. Persistence and endurance is the key, not anger.

hey, Steve. who proofed your post?? :D

I KNOW you can't spell persistence!!!

(just trying to lighten it up here) ;) :)

be sweet! :p

K,
LOL ;) Spellcheck.

jayscobras 08-01-2007 08:24 AM

Good points

Steve, I had forgotten that I did an appraisel for you, it has been a lot of years since then...my bad. I knew about your gift card and told the people there who it was from and part of your story, as I do with each donation that is received so that the stories can be passed on to the soldiers.

Kristen, thanks for logic as usual and will try to tone it down a little.

Roscoe, I don't have any yellow pills, maybe that is the problem:confused:

Maybe we could do a poker run or something....
Maybe all local clubs could organize one on the same day, get media coverage of the cause. Get Harold Pace to do a story in Kit Car or any other of the magazines he writes for.

$5.00 to enter and all proceeds go to ..... Whoever wins gets the deduction.

I don't know but there has to be a way to get everyone involved .. happily.

Hey! I'm going to make some popcorn......

This was copied from another thread and moved to this thread.

ORIGINALLY POSTED BY JAY NORDSTROM (on the chat thread)

Now that I have totally screwed up and this pos computer has posted all of those vents in part or in toto (not the dog from Kansas) I am just hoping the moderators straighten all of my bad out.

Yep only two from California but I will say two that really care which I am now finding out that 99.999999999% don't. Even though my thread got totally screwed up...I am so thankfull for the .0000001% like you guys that do.

It really amazes me that people get so upset when someone is dedicated to a cause, especially when they are too apathetic to participate.

I guess I need to apologize for being so avid in this case but I will not apologize for the fact that so many people that I have helped have not repayed anything. I am not the worst for it but they are.

Ron I read your letter to the soldiers, I hope you don't mind and I told them about you and our story of your donation. A round of applause from many who hurt them to clap.

These kids!!!!!!!!!!!! These soldiers!!!!!! These are ALL heroes!!!!!!!!!!!!!

and they are SOOOOO grateful for the help.

I am humbled from those who have helped and am SOOOOOOOOOO dam dissapointed by those who have not.

AMERICAN SOLDIERS HAVE MADE YOUR LIFE POSSIBLE!!!!

Jay

First I have even heard of this.

Speaking strickly for myself........

Good cause and I commend you for helping out.

Me, aside from donating north of 1000 hrs to CF over the last couple of years, I support various FOP, benevolent and retirement charities, donate frequently to Amvets and Kidney Foundation, helping out on an event for St. Judes (a charity that I have been involved with since 12), have a portion of my check held out for Childrens Hunger Alliance, a Scuba program for diabled Veterans, PLUS I served in the Army, however short it may have been AND have three pieces of metal in my right leg to show for it. For those of you that know me, I am sure you are putting your bets on a friendly fire incident as the cause.

There is only so much of me and my resources to go around. I am envious of those who can help more. Raising money for charity is a lot harder then one would think, I feel your frustration!

Here is a funny one. Our church wanted us to run the annual festival. Huge festival and a two year commitment. Try telling you priest 'No'! Going straight to hell.

Remember donating is voluntary and should be done freely-- not as repayment for a favor or because I thought we were friends. No Strings attached!

You are doing a great thing and it is to be commended. Just keep in mind you feel very strongly about your cause and others feel very strongly about theirs. Sometimes people are cheap when it comes to donating but most donate time and/or money in their own way and according to their own timetable and ability.

Goodhearted people like yourself are always asking for money in my workplace for one Worthy cause or another. I usually don't donate because you can only donate so much and I direct my effort and money towards the things that are important to me!

Keep up the good work but don't take things personally.

I did not send it to Jay, I sent it to OC, almost didn't cause I don't like being yelled at and arm twisted to donate (one reason the United Way makes me cringe). But after going to the site, I was quite blown away. So I decided the cause was more important, and am glad it was brought to my attention (even as poorly as it was done so). But hey, I'm human too, and screw up all the time. (as you all know all too well). BTW, why is Kristen spell checking us agen?

Mike
