Concealed carry
I picked up my permit today, now I get to have fun choosing what to carry! I'm thinking something in stainless.:3DSMILE:

Your law must be different from ours. when we first get our CCP, we have to take the gun or guns that we are going to have on it in and have them inspected. Once that is done, unless you add another one they never want to see them again. I have to go back next January to renew mine fro another two years and I haven's shot it since I had to qualify for the last renewal. Also we have to attend a 4 hour safety class any time during the two years which includes the FBI type shooting in a pitch dark gallery. Ron :) |
Definitely go with something stainless or composit. Make sure its light enough and thin enough so as to be forgetable. If its a nusiance, you'll soon leave it at home. I personally like my little 32 Keltech. its very small, flat, double action only with no safety to remember, and weights 4.6 oz empty. Granted the 32 is 'way puny but with some Corbon loads, it has practically the balistis of a 38 special. So easy to carry and conceal and a whole lot better than an empty hand in a knife fight.

I don't know if you have a regular training course in your area or not. The man that teaches the one here is a former head of homicide detective from L.A. and a certified N.R.A. teacher. I have known him for years and since I live about a 10 minute drive from the range see him there often. The required safety course here runs 4 hours and like some of your people, we get some that have never held a gun before. And John changes the shooting around from time to time. I like this range and it just costs $8 dollars plus whatever you spend on ammo and targets if you are a member. I still have three free passes from when I paid my dues as I haven't been going lately. I have S&W 15 SS 59xx series, but I don't conceal.
You need to get down to the range, decide on a carry method (think of what you will be wearing for all situations) and try the different weapons. There are tons out there. Some that come to mind are Glock 30, 26, Kahr P9 and the bargain Kel Tec P11. |

I like the Kimber Ultra CDPII in 40 Smith.. It's light, comfortable to carry and hits like a freight train.

I just got my WV concealed weapons permit this month and all I needed to do was show the County Sheriff Office my Army DD-214 and give them a $75 check. I didn't have to take a safety course because of my DD-214 but I did have to get a new drivers license to show my physical address because the old one had a PO Box number. After a background check they had me come back in the office a month later and pay them another $16 which included a laminated permit to carry in my billfold and a list of states the WV permit was valid in.
I don't plan on carrying a weapon on my person but will have one with me in the car when I'm traveling, and the permit is good in WV, PA, VA, NC, OH, KY and several other states further west. I live 2 miles from PA, 20 miles from OH and travel to VA and NC fairly often so if I get stopped for any reason at least I'll be legal for the concealed weapon. http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...agonSIGrev.jpg |
